He cautiously placed his hands on her waist. In reaction she tilted her head, allowing him more access.

Her heart pounded in her chest. Her toes tingled and she was running out of breath. She didn't want to pull away, to end what seemed to be an unendable kiss. She felt his tongue graze her bottom lip, asking for entrance. Her lungs felt as if they'd explode in her chest if refused oxygen any longer. Hers eyes shot open and she pulled away, pushing him in the process.

A look of confusion and hurt crossed his muzzle. "Did I do something wrong?" He asked. Amy shook her head as she panted intensely. Her gloved hand clutching her chest.

She looked up at him through her quills, his scarlet eyes piercing her concentration. "N-no. I just. . ." She trailed off. "I couldn't breath." She finished.

Shadow stared at her, her jade eyes sparkling in what sunlight managed to penetrate the clouded sky above them. He reached out to her, his fingers skimming over her cheek as he pushed her quills aside. He looked over her face, taking in every ounce of her beauty his eyes offered him. He looked at her rosy cheeks and vibrant pink lips, restraining himself from wrapping her in another never ending lip-lock.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. Her voice snapping him from his present thoughts.

"What are you apologizing for?" He asked her as he cupped her cheek in his hand. She opened her mouth as if she were about to speak, only, no words came out.

She released a sigh. "I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should believe any of this- " She gestured to her surroundings. "Or if I should try to wake myself up." She averted her emerald eyes from his crimson gaze.

His heart fell into the pit of his stomach. He had tried so hard to convince her. "I am real. This is real. You are awake." He attempted to explain. "Please, Rose. I'm begging you. Please believe that this is real." He felt his hope begin to crumble. Why wounldn't she accept this?

She began to chew on her bottom lip nervously. Perhaps, she was in a coma? Maybe suffering from severe dehydration resulting in very realistic hallucinations? The odds were unlikely but, she wasn't quite sure enough to rule out any options just yet.

She looked at the ebony male in uncertainty. "Why couldn't I see you before you kissed me?" She asked. The dark hedgehog opened his mouth to speak but, his tongue wouldn't form the words.

"I am a spirit." He managed.
