The chipmunk smiled widely at the blue male.  "It's been a long time. How have you been?"  She asked sweetly.  Sonic's mind was everywhere at once and no where at all.  He could do nothing but stare at her.  She looked at Tails nervously.

"Sonic," He piped up.  "Are you alright?"  This snapped Sonic out of his trance.

"Am I alright?  Are you serious?"  He looked back at Sally.  "You left. Out of nowhere without telling me. And you have the audacity to come back and demand my immediate attention when I was spending time with someone who actually deserves it."  His voice was sharp and angry.  "I tried to find you. I tried to get a hold of you time after time to no avail. So please, by all means, tell me what the hell is so important, Sally."

Tears brimmed her eyes and Tails stood wide eyed.  She stepped towards Sonic, attempting to close the distance between them.  "Sonic, I'm so—"

"I don't want your apology."  He stepped back, creating more space between them.  "Just give me an explanation. Tell me what the fuck you want."  Sonic was usually very cool tempered and level headed, seeing Sally caused something inside of him to shift.

Her lip quivered and her breathing began to shake.  "I didn't have a choice. I didn't want to leave you, Sonic, I swear.  If I could go back I'd never have left you."  Tears we're sliding down her cheeks.  "I didn't want to hurt you.  You're the last person I'd ever want to hurt."

"Why didn't you have a choice? Why couldn't you tell me?"  Sonic was yelling, tears building behind his eyes.  He refused to cry.

   "Because I was scared, Sonic!"

"Of what, Sally? What were you so scared of that I couldn't protect you from?"

At this point Tails decided it was best for him to step away from the situation and into the other room.  Sonic's hands were balled into fists and Sally's were shaking.  Her lips parted to speak but no words came out.  Sonic let out a hurtful laugh and shook his head.

"Never mind, I don't wanna know.  Just tell me what you want."  He refused to look into her eyes or even at her at all now.  His heart was pounding in his ears and his head was throbbing.  His feelings were everywhere and his thoughts were just as scattered.  He did not want to be here with her when he could be with Amy.  Amy deserved his time more than she ever had.  Amy never left.  Amy never hurt him.  Sonic was by no means a hateful person, however he held a deep disliking for the blue-eyed chipmunk.

"I... I know it's despicable of me to ask and I have absolutely no right, but Sonic, I missed you more than you could possibly fathom and I just want to try again."  The azure hedgehogs gaze snapped to her.

   "What--"

"We don't need to jump straight into a relationship, I don't expect that at all.  As much as you don't think I do, I love you Sonic."  Tears were pouring down her cheeks as she voiced her pleas.  She stepped forward and reached to place a hand on his face only to have him grip her wrist.

"No."  His voice was incredibly sharp.

Sally's bottom lip quivered as she cried.  "No..."  She repeated quietly.  "You said you had someone more deserving to spend your time with."  Sonic dropped her wrist and said nothing.  "Who is that person, Sonic?"  Sally asked weakly.

Sonic stared blankly at her as tears continued to fall down her cheeks. She was so desperate for him and it made him so angry. He had finally gotten close to Amy and out of nowhere he gets hit with two hard to swallow pills; Amy has an other man with her, and Sally decides to return. He felt so betrayed. He had no right to feel that way about Amy but he didn't know how else to feel.

"Sonic..." Sally's pleas drew him away from his thoughts.

"Amy." He answered bitterly.

Sally's whimpered. "The pink girl. The obsessive, cheery —"

"Don't you dare say anything about her, because unlike you she's never left." Hearing her start to badmouth Amy caused an even hotter fury to boil in him. "She is wonderful and sweet and enjoys being with me. When I'm with her I'm happier than I've been in months. She deserves the best of everything because she always tries to give it back, but you—" He stepped away from her. "You vanished. Without a word. You left me. I waited for you for so damn long, Sally!"

"I know, Sonic—"

"No! You don't know! You'll never fucking know!" Hearing sonic shouting drew Tails back into the garage.

He hesitantly walked over to his friend and placed a soothing hand on his shoulder. "Sonic." He spoke calmly, feeling his blue friend begin to relax under his hand.

Sally sobbed silently as Tails looked at her. "Sally, I think you should leave. Maybe you can finish this conversation another time."

The chipmunk stared at the fox in defeat. Reluctantly she walked out of the garage door, shutting it quietly behind her. With Sally gone Sonic places his face in his palms, his shoulders starting to quake under Tails' hand. He led Sonic to one of the chairs on the far side of the garage and made him sit down. Neither said a word to one another. Sonic placed his elbows on his knees and sobbed into his hands. He was so hurt and confused. His heart was pounding in his chest and his head was spinning. Why of all times does she come back now? He ran his damp hands through his quills and wiped his eyes on his sleeve. A shaking breath escaped his lips and Tails sighed. Seeing his friend so distraught was killing him and it was his fault for it. He told Sonic to come to the garage. He allowed Sally to come in. He let them talk to each other. He felt awful.

"I'm sorry, Sonic." Tails sat across from the blue hedgehog. "I should've just made her leave, I knew it wasn't gonna go well." He stood and extended his hand for Sonic to take.

Sonic shook his head as he accepted Tails' hand. "No, it's fine. I just... my head's all confused and I'm so angry. I just don't understand. Why now?" He stood and released an frustrated sigh. Tails shrugged weakly.

"I wish I could answer that, but she wouldn't tell me anything until you got here. I tried and tried but she wouldn't budge." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, not knowing how to comfort the azure hedgehog.

Sonic grumbled to himself as he, too, stuffed his hands in his pockets. "I'm just gonna go back to Amy's for a little to get this whole thing out of my mind." He turned to leave when Tails grabbed his arm. Sonic looked at him, his confusion evident.

"Are you sure that's the best idea, Sonic?" He asked quietly. "Maybe you should just go home and think about all of this?" The fox attempted to persuade the hedgehog but to no avail.

Sonic shrugged away Tails' hand and continued towards the door. "I'm going to Amy's. I'll talk to her. She'll make it better. She always does." And with that, the blue blur walked out of the door, closing it behind him.
