"Excuse me, dad, but I think I need my hearing checked because I thought you said we were going on vacation!" Ceanna laughed.
"Nope. Your hearing is correct. Go on, pack. Now."
Ceanna's smile faded, as did mine.
"That's so unfair! Why?!" We shouted.
"I think we can all agree that it's been hard since your mother passed away and we are all very stressed out. So, we are taking a break. Pack now please. The boat leaves very early in the morning.
"BOAT?" I screamed. I was terribly afraid of water. He nodded and my sister and I stormed off to our rooms.
I packed 10 shirts, 10 pairs of shorts, 10 tank tops and 10 pairs of sweats all in one suitcase, folded tightly. In the corner of that same suitcase I put in my... girly stuff. In the second suitcase I put a brush, comb, hair tie's, lotion, make up, a tooth brush, toothpaste, blankets, and two sweaters. My sister packed the same things. I also stuffed my phone charger into the suitcase.
"I'm done packing, asshole," I told my dad with anger as he peeked into my room.
"Hey! Watch your damn mouth!"
"Sorry." I mumbled, even though I wasn't sorry.
I texted my boyfriend, Josh, and told him we were going on vacation for a while. He asked if he could come, he was joking, but I thought it was a pretty good idea.
"Daddy?" I spoke quietly as I entered his room. "I'm really really really sorry for swearing and everything else."
"Out with it, hun, what do you want this time?" He asked.
I smiled and spoke very quickly, "Can Josh come on the trip please Dad, please!"
My dad took off his glasses, put down his book and said, "I suppose, if its alright with his parents. Tell him to be here at 7:00am."
"Wait, what? Are you serious?! THANK YOU SO MUCH" I screamed with joy.
"Alright, Crystal, go wash up and go to bed. We've got a long while ahead of us.
I skipped out of his room with happiness and went to the bathroom to wash up. I brushed my hair and teeth, washed off my make up and put lotion cream on my face to make it smoother.
I finished packing my bags with 2 pairs of shoes and another bottle of toothpaste, then I jumped into bed.
I lay awake thinking of how much more fun the trip would be with Josh and just then, very slowly, I drifted off to sleep, the darkness swallowing me whole.
