"I don't know how we will ever find a replacement for Link though."
Teba said in a confused manner, wings ruffling lightly as he spoke those true- yet heartbreaking words.
If you looked close enough you could even catch the glint of regret in his sickly yellow eyes, pain striking him down in a wave of sudden grief.
With a deep sigh from me I spoke up, "we can't." I looked over at the man- my golden eyes staring into his own. "And we most likely never will-" I bit my lip softly and looked away, towards the ground.
No one can replace him- no one can send me that soft of a smile, or that meaningful side glance. No one else can give me what he did. No matter how hard they tried.
I looked off to the window- my eyes scanning over it as the raindrops fell. Soft tapping filling the aging room, and nothing more.
"It's a bit quiet- even for this kind of-!" Not even a second after my lips parted the room was shaking and artificial light was streaming in through the foggy windows. A murky light- followed by red-yellow hues and panicked voices.
"What the hell?" Teba yelled out as we rushed out of the room, harsh footsteps against the carpeted halls and stairwell steps. "I don't know! I'm guessing an explosion." I yelled back as we pushed through the entrance- smoke and flames immediately attacking our senses.
"What?" I couldn't believe it at the time. I couldn't believe the fact that smoke was climbing the castle like a monkey- or the fact that that goddamn red malice was there. Hanging over the castle like a predator about to attack its prey. I refused to.
"Sidon!" I snapped my head over towards Teba as he looked onwards to the buildings just down the street. Thousands of monsters marching down and killing everyone they saw- knocking down doors and slaughtering adults- and even children.
I couldn't believe the fact that the kingdom was about to fall once again- and all I could do was sit there and wait to be slaughtered.
"Come on!" I swung my spear over my shoulder and into my hands- "lets split up and find the princess!" Teba nodded at me, a smirk forming on his face. "And while we're at it- how about we see who can kill the most monsters?" I rolled my eyes at Teba as he spoke- drawing his bow slowly as electricity flickered at the end of his arrow. "As long as you don't hit me with one of those, I'm good." Now it was Teba's turn to roll his eyes at me, "let's just save the princess shall we?" I finally said before darting forward.
I rushed forward- towards the castle. The amount of monsters was ridiculous, I hadn't seen this many since nearly 300 years ago. Not since- since Ganon... I dragged my arm upwards- my crystal tipped spear slicing straight through a group of monsters as I kept running.
I just kept running- and running, and running. Until, I finally arrived at the castle- but unfortunately the war was already there. Despite our best efforts of getting here as quick as possible, it was already too late.
For the once beautiful, quartz spires that had seemingly sprouted up from the ground, in front of the castle, like trees- were now dirty and blood soaked- as Hylian bodies littered the marbled steps. "Goddess Hylia-" I spoke numbly as I stared onwards at the onslaught that must have occurred before me."Sidon"
I freeze, now's not the time Sidon. I ignore the voice, turning my attention back to the steps as I rushed up them. My feet moving before my mind can even register it.
"Sidon"
I pause again- this time I end up looking up to the sky as his voice echoed within my skull, a head splitting migraine pairing with a softness, indescribable by Zora standards, rushed in- controlling my senses. What do you want, Link? I couldn't help but squint as I stared up into the clouded sky.
"Don't rush- it'll only cause you struggle"
"And you won't win when you struggle"
"I have to get to the princess Link- I don't have time to sit here and talk nonsense with you!" I began to walk up the bloodied steps again- an unknown force driving me as I did so.
"Please! Just wait until Revali arrives-"
I hesitate for a moment- "why?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Just know that the princess is currently safe. So you don't have to rush to her aid"
"What?" I stumble forwards as I keep my head held up high- a questioning tone to my voice. "What do you mean? How could you possibly know that?"
"The prophecy is about to come true- don't reject them"
"What prophecy?"
"I know you'll try to"
"Who will I reject? What will I reject?!" I practically screamed out- confusion and sorrow gripping onto my very being.
"I love you"
Silence.
"And I'm sorry"
At that my head fell, and I began to gasp for breath as emotions threatened to scream out. "Don't apologize," I mumble softly- "and please, don't leave." I lowered my head and gritted my teeth...
When will it all come to an end?
"Prince!!" If it hadn't been for Teba's voice my mind would have been adrift. I had turned my attention over to the man now standing beside me- a wing extended around me gently in a worried manner. "Teba-" I spoke softly, confusion still etched into my features as I looked into his eyes. "Are you okay?" I stood up straighter- "yeah-" I looked away to the ground. "Just met with an old friend." I knew he didn't believe that what I said was all of the truth- but he wasn't one to fight with me at a time like this. "I see-" he hesitated, "well- let's go, the queen needs us." I wait a moment before nodding my head- he was already climbing up the steps though."Be careful"
