After the emergency meeting, the race members retreated back to their home bases- well most of them anyways. For only me and Teba remained in the blossoming city of Hyrule, well for the time being. We had many topics to discuss and catch up on, and we had a certain topic to discuss that we had been avoiding for the longest time. Link.
Walking alongside Teba was quite the reality check- not seeing Teba or the other race leaders for over three hundred years made more of an impact then I originally thought it would. I guess I just hadn't reminded myself that the other leaders were not the ones that I knew by heart.
I guess- for the past three hundred years the only thoughts floating around in this head of mine were the ones concerning the leadership and management of Zora's domain, and the grief of having lost my blonde haired and blue eyed Hylian. Man did I need a vacation.
"So- how have things been in Rito Village?" I ask with a soft smile gracing my lips as we strolled through the bustling Village. He was quiet for a few minutes, as if he was trying to find the right words to use. That is- until he finally broke the numbing silence between us, "If I'm to be honest, I've no clue." I looked over at the man with a sympathetic look, "the monsters near the village have been increasing in number recently."
He sighed heavily, "I know that Link and Zelda sealed Ganon away a few hundred years ago- but still, something is ruffling my feathers, and I don't like it." He clenched his jaw, his eyes looking off to another direction to scan over the area. "I think Zelda might be right-" he said as he looked back over at me- sincerity lacing his eyes. "I think he's come back-" I nodded my head- apparently I had been so engrossed in the conversation that I accidentally bumped into a kid- which ended up in me knocking the blonde boy over.
I went wide-eyed for a split second before kneeling down in front of the kid, "I'm sorry- are you alright?" He looked up at me- and I couldn't help but freeze. Those eyes. I was about to say something whenever lightening crashed through the sky- thunder following fast. Making all three of us jerk back in surprise. "I-it's fine-" the boy mumbled out- his words soft and almost incoherent as the wind picked up. Rain began to fall and the boy stood up in a hurry and ran back to what I presumed was his family.
"He looked an awful lot like-" "I know" I cut Teba off- my golden eyes cutting through the suddenly grey atmosphere like ice.
"We should really get inside." Teba said hesitantly- his eyes shooting to the sky as the rain began to pour. I nodded in agreement before following him to our hotel, we ended up rooming together. And- I guess we really didn't mind.
We walked up to the third floor, "what room was it again?" I asked as we walked through the dimly lit hallway. Teba looked down at our keycard- looking it over roughly before mumbling out- "313, so that should be—" "here!" I grabbed the keycard from his fingers and slid it through the slot and the door clicked open.
"Woah-" I couldn't help but be amazed at the room. It had a sofa off to the right of the entrance and two king sized beds in it, a decent sized bathroom, and the ceilings were high enough for us. Which was surprising.
I walked into the room- past Teba and sat down on the bed nearest the window and looked outside. Even though it was pouring now it was still so beautiful- the trees swaying, and the rain pounding on the window made being here just that much easier. Teba sat down on his bed- looking over at me with a sympathetic look. "Hey-" he started before abruptly stopping himself and turning to look at me. "We need to talk about Link," as he spoke I could feel my breath hitch in my throat- and my eyes widen to the size of saucers. But I quickly changed my expression to a more understanding one. I was scared to talk about it- well, more sad if anything, but I had to say something- and so I did. I simply muttered out a barely audible, "I know."

"But how are we supposed to find someone to replace him?"
