8 ~ I'll Never Tell

BEFORE I BEGIN, YOURS TRULY HAS A FEW WORDS TO TYPE.

So like. Wow. Uh, thank you. I didn't think this book would get any attention and now there are people begging for more chapters. I leave Wattpad for 4 weeks and I come back to this. Crying in the club, I love you guys, no homo :).

Matthew's POV

"I pick you." I smile at the person I chose. See, the only difference about this person is, I sort of already encountered her.  Also, she wasn't really in the crowd, it was more like hiding shame and trying to pass by the crowd. Who did I pick, you may be asking? I'll never tell.

Aha. I'm kidding, I picked that girl that thought she could hurt Kate. What was her name? Jaden? Jocelyn? No, I'm sure it was Jenny. Anyway, she walked up to me and she looked puzzled.

"Why'd you pick me?" She asked, the other girls disbanding and scoffing as they left in sadness. What can I say? Not everyone can have someone like me. I should stop.

"I picked you because there are some things I'd like to know," I spoke as we walked side by side.

"Which would be? Of course, It's about Kate." She chuckled. I looked down at my feet.

"Why do you two have issues?" I asked her. A moment of silence passed.

"I don't remember it well. It started when we were younger. We were in the same classes ever since a young age. She was always successful. She never had any problems in her life. Everyone liked her. I was jealous of her, of her personality. I knew it was something I couldn't have. And I never will." She sighed. Most girls think they have to be the same as every other girl to fit in. That's not how things work. If a guy doesn't like you for you, they don't deserve you.

"I mean, yeah, she's lovable. And yeah, you'll never be like her. That doesn't mean you can't be yourself. You are the best person you can be, no matter what you think." I speak and turn to her. She smiles.

"Yeah. I guess you're right. Thanks." She says, looking me in eyes. As soon as she finishes talking, I gaze off at the distance and think of other things.

Kate's POV

I stare at him as he stares at me. I really don't know why we're doing this because, from the corner of my eye, there are about 20 girls yelling his name and charging after him. He smirks at me and I hold back my laughter. He starts running for a while but stops after a while. I'm sitting on the park bench seat thingy and he's not very far. He's in an area where I can see him in between some bushes. I look for a while and Oogie magically appears out of nowhere. After a couple of minutes, a girl approaches him and they both walk away. For a second, I could've sworn I knew who it was.

"I'm gonna start moving," I get up and speak to Jason. He looks clueless.

"I don't wanna miss the show." I walked away. Jason didn't bother saying anything. I'm sure he was too confused to move his mouth. I took out my phone from my back pocket and decided to play some music through my headphones.  No Mattox or Oogieman beats, just some music I prefer to listen to on days like this. Like some Lil Peep. Lil Peep always makes me feel like there's something to live for.

I put my phone back in my back pocket and keep walking. I'm not even sure why I feel upset. I was so sure Matt was with Jordan. But what do I care? We've been talking for only a couple of hours. Plus, once I leave this park, I leave all connections with Matt here as well. Getting a celebrity's number is impossible unless you're one yourself. And me? I'm a nobody.

Not in his eyes, but in the world. Sure, I have friends. That's because I trust them. Other than that, I talk to nobody. Sure, I sometimes do out of respect, but other then that, that's it.

I used to just be good at being known. Now, I just don't care.

This chapter is only 700+ words. Most of my other chapters are 1120+, so I'm sorry for the length of this chapter. Also, if my word choices in this chapter are a little more sophisticated, I'm sorry, I just watched Red Sparrow, lmao. It's a movie about a Double-Cross Russian agent and you know Russians. Their vocabulary is very improved.
