'have you heard about it yet?!' el excitedly asked me after we ordered our dinner at the diner

we had both ordered burgers and fries, along with coca cola for each of us

'heard about what? did you finally get a boyfriend?!' i asked sarcastically

she fake laughed,'nooo. have you heard about the summer dance for seniors?'

i gave her a funny look,'what do you mean? when is it?' i asked as the waitress came back with our drinks

'it's on friday! basically all the seniors are going, and we are too!' she raised her eyebrows at me

but before i could neglect the invitation, el spoke up,'hey, it's not like we have anything better to do'

i thought about, and then agreed,'fine, but the second it gets boring we leave, alright?'

she winked at me,'alright,'

about ten minutes passed with chatter when el all of a sudden had a huge shocked look on her face

happy shocked, but still shocked

'uh, vic; i think someone's here to see you' she said with a smile covering her whole face

before i could turn around and see, the person was already at the table

'mind if i join?' richie asked

el gave me a look and then i nodded,'yeah, sure'

he smiled and winked at me and then nodded to el, his usual greeting to the both of us

he slid down in the booth seat, next to me and across from el

'hungry?' el asked him and he nodded

'of the sorts, eleanore' he answered

then el spoke up,'well, vic ordered an extra large burger and fries and i'm sure she would love to share'

richie and el then both looked at me,'sure, yeah we can uh- share'

richie smiled at me and scooted closer, and when he did el winked at me secretly so richie wouldn't notice

when our food came, even though i said we could share, richie only took a few fries here and there

the night went on, and once we were done with dinner, we ordered dessert

el ordered a chocolate sundae milkshake with extra chocolate, and richie ordered a strawberry and chocolate sundae with extra syrup

'sooo, richie,' el began

'have you heard about the summer dance?' she asked him

we both looked at him as he smiled and said,'yeah-' he began but el quickly interrupted him again

'did you also hear that you have to bring a date? well you don't have to but it's encouraged' she said with a wink to the both of us

i mentally face palmed, but my cheeks were blushing

richie cleared his throat and then looked at me,'hey, vic? our deserts won't come for another fifteen minutes, could we uh- go outside and talk for a second?' he asked

'sure, we'll be right back, el' i said as we got out of the booth

right before we left to go outside, el hollered,'use protection!'

my eyes got big as i laughed at her comment

'yeah, rich?' i asked him as we got outside

'vic, do you wanna go to the dance with me?' he asked, hope gleaming from his eyes

'uh, no'
