Listen Up Homeworld: PT-2- The Darkest Midnight

The doors swing open suddenly and a large figure steps out into the hallway. "And who might you be?" the lady says sternly. "I am Fire Opal. This is Snow, Obsidian, Blue Pearl, and Verdelite. Now, who are you?" I ask her. She looks at me. "I'm Black Diamond." she says while just looking at us. "Oh wow. Finally a Diamond that doesn't think she's the center of the universe." I say to her. She just stands there nodding, "Yeah. I think I'm important, but not extremely."

I look at her and see a slight flash of fear cross over her eyes. Her face changes to scared for a quick second. She stops and looks at us with a courageous face, but I can still see worry. "Now why are you here? What purpose do you serve?" she says. I just look at her. I had my answer, but I couldn't talk. Just the way she said "What purpose do you serve?" struck a weird nerve in me. I had a slight flashback of when I was still Jasper's Opal.

Flashback
As I walk down the long hallway of Jasper's building, I hear a loud yell. "OPAL!!!!!" Jasper says. I start to run down the hallway towards the sound. I enter a room and am met with a hand to the throat. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!" Jasper yells in my face. I choke back tears of fear and look him in the face. "I was just walking around the building." I state, looking him dead in the eye. He gets even angrier.

"YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO LEAVE YOUR OWNER!" he screams in my ear, giving me an instant headache. He only gets this way when he's really mad. He doesn't abuse me, but he'll threaten me. "I know. I'm sorry. Please just don't hurt me." I say through tears. He loosens his grip on my shoulder and neck. He felt some empathy towards me. He drops me from the wall and just stands there. "Sorry." is all he says. "I didn't mean to be harsh" he says. I nod and wipe the tears away. We leave the building after a conversation and head to a ship.

End Flashback
I snap out of my trance to see Black Diamond with a worried look. She knew something she said had affected me, but she just didn't know what. "We are here to help the Diamonds find out what happened to Pink." I say while calming down. She gasps and covers her mouth. Tears fill her eyes and she cups her face. "Oh, Pink. Why did they have to do this to you?!" she yells.

We all look at her in worry. She just looks at us and shakily states, "Ok. I am against Orange and Green. But I'm also against the other Diamonds. Everything they do is horrible to me." We look at her. I was listening, but also not. I was so confused on why she was screaming for Pink. When she stops explaining everything, I take this as my chance, "Excuse me. I need to go do something." I start to walk away, then signal Snow to follow me. He starts to follow.

When we finally get back into another room, I close the door. "We need to talk about a few things. And they aren't about you." I say to him. He cocks his head in confusion. "Why was Black so sad about Pink? Were they super close or something?" I say. He just stands there with an expression on his face. I was really good at figuring out what people were thinking or what their emotion was at the time, but I couldn't with him. Just something about him made him...unreadable.

"I honestly don't know why she was so shook up about it." He says. I run my hands through my long hair. It usually stands up, but was lying down today. It was messy, but still looked halfway decent. His hair was in a neat bun which made him look absolutely amazing. I look at him as he runs his hands through his hair. His big, gray eyes turn to meet my big, green ones. We stared at each other for what felt like thirty minutes. I soon realized it was only about thirty seconds. I suddenly craved for the gaze more for an unknown reason. He broke the long gaze and continued talking.

"Uhh...sooooo...what else did you want to talk about?" he asks. "Uhh. I forgot. Let's go back." I say in a hurrying tone. We walk out and make our way back to where our friends were. When we finally get back, I see none of our friends, but their weapons lying on the ground. I cover my mouth in shock. Suddenly, a bright white light shines from my pocket. I pull Obsidian out of my pocket and it floats into the air. I see Obsidian start to reform.

Obsidian falls to the ground in his full, fixed form. I learned earlier that he can heal himself. Snow runs up and gives him the biggest hug. I go hug him as well. "Hi everyone...wait. Where is everyone?" he says worried. I look at Snow and we look back at him, "We don't know. We were walking and then we came back and they were gone." He looks at us in disbelief. "We are going to find them. We have to." he says. I look at Snow in worry. He just nods in a reassuring manner. We start to walk down the long hallway then through the door.

As we are walking down the hall, I hear a familiar noise. I kind of soundscapes like the song I heard right before I met Blue and Verdelite. I follow the noise while Snow and Obsidian follow close behind. The music gets louder and louder.

I am suddenly pulled back by my shoulders right before a ball of molten metal flies and hits the ground right in front of me. It hardens almost completely to the floor. I look around only to meet the eyes of a gem with molten metal on her hands. "Hi there."
