"What are you doing tonight?" My dad asked me. I live in Pittsburgh with my dad, Mike Sullivan, the coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins. I moved here when he was hired as the coach 3 seasons ago. Now that the season was ended, my life was way less hectic. Except for one small detail.

I am dating Conor Sheary. For a year. And my dad doesn't know.

It's not that my dad wouldn't let me date him, no, it's definitely that my dad probably wouldn't let me date him. "Just going out with some friends." I told him and he nodded. "Okay, have fun. I think your mother and I are just gonna stay home tonight if you won't be home." He told me and I nodded.

After a few seconds of silence, I got the clear to leave the awkward conversation. I made a run for my room and I closed my door, immediately FaceTiming Conor. "Hey babe," He said and I smiled. "Dad bugging you again?" He asked and I nodded. "It'll be over soon. We'll tell him soon." He assured me and I nodded.

"I just hate hiding this from him." I admitted and he nodded. "I know. We can tell him soon if you want." He said. I nodded and sighed. This was getting hard, and it broke my heart lying to my dad.

"Baby, what's wrong?" He asked me. "Nothing." I whispered and he shook his head. "Nope, not nothing. I'll tell you what, we're going out to dinner so you can cheer up. Panera, on me and you can't say no." He said and I smiled. He knew the way to my heart, Panera was my favorite.

"Fine." I groaned and he cheered. "Yay! Don't worry about dressing nice, I'm wearing sweatpants and a Penguins shirt. I'll meet you there at 7." He said and I nodded. "See you at 7."

I met Conor at the Panera at 7. We ordered our food and sat down at a booth, Conor across from me. I was so excited to eat my sandwich and my mac and cheese and drink my iced tea. I really love Panera. I pulled my phone out and took a picture of Conor with our food and posted it to my Instagram story.

It's a good thing my dad isn't on social media. And that my Instagram is on private. I enjoyed my food and made small talk with my boyfriend. After about twenty minutes, we finished our food and I went up to refill my drink and get a brownie. I stood up and grabbed my cup, going to refill my drink when I heard the voice of my dad.

"(Y/N)?" I heard and I spun around, my heart racing. "Hi, dad. What are you doing here?" I asked and he looked at me. "Getting food, you goof. What else would I be doing? Are you here alone or are you with someone?" He asked me and my heart sped up. I opened my mouth and closed it again, not knowing whether or not to lie or tell him the truth. I was about to lie to him when I heard Conor's voice.

"She's with me, Coach." He said and walked up to me. "Well I'm glad to see you're befriending some of my players, they're great people. I'll leave you two kids alone then," he started to walk away but I stopped him.

"Dad, wait." I said and he turned around. "What's wrong?" He asked and I took a deep breath. "Conor and I, we're dating." I said and his eyes widened. "Dating? For how long?" He asked me and I looked down with a disappointed look. "Almost a year." I whispered and he sighed.

"You know honey, I'm disappointed that you hid this from me for so long. Why didn't you just tell me? I'm okay with this." He told me and I nodded. "I was worried that you wouldn't accept our relationship. And when it got farther along and Conor and I's relationship really progressed, I didn't want you to say I couldn't date him because it would be so hard." I told him honestly.

"Sweetie, I'm very supportive of you and Conor's relationship. I'm happy you picked Conor, he's a great guy. Just no kissing in front of me." He joked and we both smiled. I hugged my dad and he rubbed my back. I was so glad my dad supported my relationship.

"Oh, but Shears?" He said and Conor looked up. "What's up, sir?" "You break my daughter's heart and I'm sending you to Philly." He said fake seriously and Conor nodded worriedly. My dad busted out laughing, and so did I. A look of relief washed over his face and I smiled. I had nothing to worry about. Except my dad telling Conor embarrassing stories about me.
