Chapter Twenty-One:

-Village Hidden in The Hot Springs-

Kakashi paced around the room anxiously with his hands cradling his head as he mumbled his thoughts to himself, his eyes staying on the floor his feet padded against, and the group watched him. "Why is Kakashi-sensei like this? I've never seen him like this before, Gai-sensei." Lee asked Gai who was solemn and quiet. "You have to understand, Lee," Kurenai started, gaining their full attention, "Kakashi's mother died during giving birth to him, his father, the White Fang of Konoha, committed senpukku and Kakashi saw him do it. Obito, his teammate, died during the Third Shinobi War and Rin, his other teammate, died during a Kiri Kidnapping. The only one he had left was Yondaime-sama, his sensei, who was a father figure for him. When he died during the Kyūbi Attack, Kakashi just fell apart. He wasn't himself; and he believed that if he distanced himself from us, then we wouldn't get hurt or die. That's why he didn't take care of you Naruto; he didn't want you hurt." Naruto nodded in understanding as he watched his sensei-his surrogate father-pace back and forth. "So to see Yondaime-sama alive...it caused a raging storm onto his broken mind and self-being." Gai finished solemnly for Kurenai who nodded while running a hand through her hair. Temari and Tenten then came out of the door in which held Minato and the former said, "He's awake if you want to talk to him,"

"Is he okay though?" Kakashi asked, getting a nod from Tenten in reply.

The large group went inside to see Minato sitting upright, leaning heavily against the headboard of the bed, as bandages wrapped around his bare, muscular chest and abdomen with a plain white bed sheet covering from the waist down. He looked up when he felt some familiar chakra signatures and gave a look of concern to Kakashi who froze, a look of horror passing his masked features. "Minato-sensei...it really is you..." He murmured with Minato smiling unsurely at his old student before he was tackled into an embrace by a blur of orange and yellow. He blinked when he felt something wet make contact with his bare skin. "O-Otou-san..." Naruto choked out, making Minato's surprised expression soften as he wrapped his arms around him in a strong, reassurig embrace. "I've waited for so long just to hear you say that. How old are you now?" Naruto pulled back and sat down criss-cross fashion, rubbing his right eye with the back of his fist, as he mumbled, "Sixteen..." Minato smiled and looked over to see shocked chunin and jonin. "And who are your friends, Naruto?" Naruto jumped up, a grin splitting his features, as he introduced what was left of the Konoha 11. "This is my teammate, Kiba Inuzuka, and his ninken, Akamaru!" Naruto started with Kiba, throwing his arm over his shoulders in a brotherly way, with Kiba chuckling as Akamaru barked happily. Naruto then moved to Sasuke who had a small smile on his face. "This is Sasuke Uchiha, the King of Temes!" "Dobe..." Sasuke retorted with his small smile. Naruto then jumped over to Shino who had his hands shoved inside his pockets. "And this is...uh...Shino? Yeah! Shino Aburame!" Shino sighed, at least he remembered... Naruto then went on to Neji who held a stoic look on his features. "And this is Neji Hyūga." His voice slightly broke on Neji's last name and he paused in silence for a while before moving on to Lee. "This is Rock Lee, most badass chunin who specializes in taijustu!" "Yosh! It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Yondaime-sama!" Lee shouted in greeting, making Minato chuckle, "He's like a Gai mini-me..." which caused Gai to blush in embarrassment. Naruto then went to Tenten who twirled a kunai absentmindedly between her fingers, "This is Tenten! She's awesome with weapons. Give her anything used for combat and she'll master it in thirty minutes!" Tenten blushed at Naruto's description of her as the said blonde went over to Chouji. "This is Chouji Akimichi, he's one of the ones who can keep up with me in a ramen eating contest!" Chouji munched on his chips as he smiled sweetly at Minato. "And this is Shikamaru Nara, he is super smart! He can come up with a bunch of battle strategies within a minute! He's lazy though!" "Mendōkuse..." Shikamaru sighed as he yawned. Naruto jumped over to Gaara who stood next to Temari and Kankuro. "This is my friend, Gaara no Sabaku, and his older siblings Temari and Kankuro. Gaara can control sand, Temari is really awesome with wind chakra-she teached me some justus-and Kankuro is a crazy doll lady."

"THEY'RE NOT DOLLS, THEY'RE PUPPETS, BAKA!!!!" Kankuro roared in fustration with Naruto ignoring his angered yell, making Minato laugh. Naruto then introduced Dimitri to Minato with Dimitri nodding at the laughing Minato in greeting.

"Wait, aren't there supposed to be more kunoichi?" Minato asked, confused even further when everyone looked down and Sasuke stormed out of the room. "We did..." Kurenai mumbled. "My kunoichi is Hinata Hyūga, she's what held us together." Kakashi said as he draped his arms around Naruto's and Kiba's shoulders with Akamaru whining. "My kunoichi was Ino Yamanaka, the most fashionable, dramatic kunoichi you'll ever encounter." Kurenai chuckled softly as Shino draped an arm around her shoulders in comfort awkwardly. "Our kunoichi was Sakura Haruno but she betrayed us." Shikamaru hissed in anger, his usually bored eyes sharp with hatred at the mentioned pinkette. "Okay, explanations. Now. And I'll explain everything to you in return." Minato ordered with his eyes narrowed.

-The Final Valley, Orochimaru's Hideout, Hinata's Mind-

She banged at the steel doors that locked her in the room, screaming for her to be released. Her eyes went wide with horror as she saw the cold-blooded monster she had become...what she couldn't stop. She sobbed as she fell onto her knees in defeat, her fists pressed against the door, as she cried. "Gomen, everyone! I can't fight anymore! I can't do anything!" She pressed her forehead onto the door, squeezing her eyes shut when the agonized screams and cries of Dimitri echoed in her head.

"Don't you pray for me...Im not worth it..."
