Days grew long now. Perrethia couldn't find enough distractions to last through days lately. So many centuries she's been alive for, but time seemed to go so much slower lately.
She sighed and called for one of the new angels to come in. There had to be something new for her to discover, something new for her to experience-- even if it was through someone else. A small boy entered the room and smiled widely at her. His floating was a bit shaky and uncontrolled.
"Hi, Miss Gaea!" The child smiled, flashing a toothy smile.
"Hello," She smiled softly. "What's your name?"
"Greg, Miss," He said, rocking back and forth on his toes. His eyes switched over from her to the ground, his nerves evident in his actions.
"Greg," She repeated. "Hi, there. Do you want to sit?"
The boy nodded and Perrethia smiled, waving a hand next to her, a small swing set of vines and white roses (without thorns, of course) appearing before her. The boy gaped at it, eagerly rushing over to the swing. "How'd ya do that?!"
"I've got special talents," She winked. "So Greg, please tell me. What brings you here?"
The small boy cocked his head. "You called me here."
"No, no. I mean, what brings you here."
The boy stopped swinging himself for a moment, twisting his face up. "I don't remember much, Miss. Hmm," He rubbed his chin, thinking deeply. "I think I was with my mum at the park. There were loud bangs and next thing I know, I wake up here."
Her face softened, a soft sigh escaping her lips. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," He nodded. "I remember it hurt a lot but it's gone now. I'm okay."
Perrethia swung back and forth softly. "What was it like, Greg? Your life before you got here."
"It was fun," He grinned. "I went to school and I was a 1st grader! Can you believe that, Miss? A whole 6 years old! I had fun friends, we used to have free time every Friday. Those were my favorite. There was cake, candy, and chocolate! Have you ever had chocolate? I haven't had chocolate since I came yesterday. I miss it. Can you make some?"
"Do ya?" She chuckled. The child nodded. "I can't make chocolate, but ive got a nice bowl over there," She pointed over. The boy jumped off and took a handful, giving one to Perrethia when he returned. "Thank you," She smiled.
He opened the wrapper and popped a piece into his mouth. He frowned after awhile and looked down at his hands.
"What is it? Not your taste?"
"No, theyre nice, Miss," He started. "I just used to eat them with my mom. When can I see her?"
Perrethia's heart ached at his words. "You will," She assured him. "It's going to take time but you will see her again. I promise you this."
He pushed himself on the swing lightly, and looked up at her with a small smile. "I will?"
"Yes."
"I'm glad. I hope she's not sad."
"I'll make sure of it," She put a hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"You're nice. You're very pretty, too, Miss. Why are you here?"
"I'm Their daughter."
"Whose?"
"God's."
"Wow, really?" Greg asked, cocking his head at her.
"Yeah," She nodded.
"Haven't you been down before, then?"
"No, sadly."
"Why do you look so human, then?" He knitted his eyevrows in confusion.
"Reasons I don't think I'm truly able to explain to you. It's complicated." She shrugged, a light laugh escaping. After so many times she had been asked that question, her response became short and sweet. "So, keep telling me about earth."
They chatted for awhile, Perrethia getting more fascinated each second. He of course had to leave eventually, but every bit he said was enough to convince her what she had become determined to do -- she was going to go down to earth as soon as possible. It wasn't going to be easy, but she could feel it was something she needed. Even if it was for five minutes that she walked across a paved ground. It would feel greater than the eternity she's been spending in heaven. It had to be.
