As Astrid's parents were clearing away the debris in the kitchen, she took her chance and quietly tiptoed out the front door. He can't be that far away, she thought. She started looking in piles of debris and feeling through the water. As she was looking in a small pile of wood, a sudden wave splashed over her and the pile came crashing down, sweeping her even farther from her house. She tried to paddle her way back to the house, but the current was just too strong.

"Someone..please help me..help!" she called, refusing to let the current take her too far, but know one came to her aid. Giving up hope, she finally succumbed to the water, letting the rapids carry her farther and farther away from her home, as exhaustion settled over her and she fell asleep.
