I stayed up late on the first day just thinking about her.
I read that text over and over again:
"Purple hair, nose piercing, likes boy bands... Sounds pretty cool to me bro."
I read it until my eyes hurt from looking at the screen for too long.
And after staring at a text for longer than I needed to, I read the first half of "Looking For Alaska". Alaska reminded me of the girl I would meet tomorrow. She was young and bold, exactly what I was looking for in a girl.
I could only hope that Delilah was as wonderful as she seemed.
God, I talk about her like I know her.
I woke up at noon the second day. It was freezing out, even for San Francisco. I mean it was Summer and 50 degrees outside.
I sat at the window of my small apartment and looked down on the city. I saw the Golden Gate Bridge, I saw tall buildings, I saw people which you could clearly see we're locals, and people who were clearly tourists (Locals had jackets and pants and tennis shoes, Tourists looked worried and wore tank tops and short shorts and flip flops), and at the corner of my street I saw a girl.
My apartment was just low enough to see her facial features. She had hair that was violet colored, and she had a nose piercing, and she wore dark jeans and a light blue-and-white stripy top with short sleeves. She looked about 5 5" from what I could tell, and she had "An Abundance of Katherines" in her hands, with the book open, and she walked like nobody else was around. She walked like she didn't even care if she ran into anybody on my busy street because the book was more important to her.
But then I saw her turn to the doorway of my building which had my apartment in it and I was inside my apartment... Oh My God. I was going to meet Delilah today.
