Just Like A Child

Delilah's POV:

We were off to a great start. We were flirting like crazy and it gave me the most amazing feeling. It was like I was a child again.

I had chosen to become an adult rather early in life. I sort of even regret leaving home.

Of course, Mom told me she hated me at least twice a day, she would hit me so hard it left red marks, she would tell me to leave all the time, and I knew from an extremely young age that I would fulfill her dream sometime in the future.

She always had another boyfriend, and then I would have a new half-brother or half-sister and then soon she would have a completely different guy, and more children... I was the eldest. I once had a real father who was married to my mother and life was perfect. I had a little sister once too, but Mom got to her head. She told her she was worthless, her own mother, and so she found the gun our Dad used to use, and left us. Not even a note was left.

So then I met Emma, who also had a terrible home life, and we made a plan. We sat in her closet with paper and pens and drew out everything that would happen, of course, we rewrote it a few times years later. We made an oath to not spend a cent until the day we decide to run.

Anyways, I felt completely like a child joking with this boy, and then

"Would I be more attractive if I were in a band?"

Oh. My. God.

My heart started to pound against my chest, and there was so much excitement and adrenaline in my veins that my eyes started to water.

I shook my sudden nervousness, and started to ask him questions. I was asking so many, I really did sound like a child wishing to discover the world.

"The boy type."

What. Wait. Let me just die for a second.

Then I asked him who was in it, and he told me to look up "5 Seconds of Summer" and click the link to their website.

I clicked the link and waited for it to load, my phone was being slow.

And forgetting about the website briefly, I started thinking about the male in the room. He chose to make this small thing a mystery. I was eager so he told me to find it out on my own. I appreciate that more than most. I love being an individual who can do things on her own.

I then looked at my phone again.

I saw Michael and Luke and Ashton and Oh My God. CALUM. CALUM was Emma's ex but they were so much better together than her and ugh... Xavier.

Luke.. He looked so...

He had his guitar in the picture I was looking at and he was having fun with the guys and to cover up my shyness I started to laugh.

It was pretty damn funny. I actually fell out of my chair laughing.

I told him that I absolutely had to see them perform.

He told me I'd see them play at the party.

I got up and instead of sitting back in the spinning chair, I decided to sit next to him. I wanted us to be close. I wanted him to be mine.

We sat there and talked and then I looked into his bright blue eyes.

"Hey, I gotta go... I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay.", He said smirking. God, I wanted to kiss him.

He wanted me to kiss him too, I could see the wanting in his eyes. He was hoping.

"You're trying really hard, aren't you?"

"As hard as I've ever tried to win a girl over."

"You won," I said quietly.

I slowly brought my hand up to his face, brushing his cheek, looking at his beautiful face...

And then I kissed him. I didn't even mean to... It just happened.

The feeling of his lips on mine was the best feeling ever. My chest was about to explode thanks to my heart, beating so fast it became numb to me, and my veins, my veins were filled with pure adrenaline, feeling like they would burst any second.

And then I said just as Alaska Young once did, "To Be Continued."

I then walked to the door and left without looking back at him, I resisted the urge to turn around and kiss him over and over again. I resisted the urge to turn and take all layers between us away, so it could be me, and him, and no fabrics keeping each other separated.

I resisted.
