Delilah's POV:
I walked down the many flights of stairs from Luke's apartment with the biggest smile I had ever worn across my face. After so much time, after so many useless set ups, after a lifetime of false matches, I knew that him and I fit perfectly together. To know that I had a future relationship with somebody... It made me just want to scream with joy.
I saw Michael heading up the stairs and realized he would see me.. I hoped to God that he wouldn't ask why I was there.
"Hey!" I said as we walked past each other.
"Ha, why wouldn't I expect to see you here.", He mumbled thinking that I wouldn't hear.
God, why is he always so moody? Eh, his matchmaking skills make up for it.
As I walked out of his building door, I looked at the whole street and everything was the same, but it wasn't. Everything was joyous. As I looked at people's faces, I only noticed the grins, I only saw the happy children, I only played attention to the bright colors that popped out, because it was like the whole world was behind a photo filter.
I was happier than I ever had been. The more I thought about Luke Hemmings, the younger I seemed to get. Instead of thinking about paying the bills, I was thinking about chasing a boy. It was the most beautiful feeling to be a child all over again.
I felt free. I felt like I could let go of all worries. I had Luke and that was all that mattered as I walked back home from his apartment.
And when I walked to the door of my own home I heard this:
"You always loved him more than me, God, your such a whore Em, Like what the hell, you should have told me you never got over Calum!"
"You dare call me a WHORE in my own home? GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY APARTMENT."
"Wait, Em, I'm sorry, okay?"
"No, not fucking okay, Xavier. OUT. WE ARE DONE."
And then he started to cry, "Em, but I love you!"
"People who love others don't call them whores, goodbye."
And with that, he came out the door to where I was standing.
"Do you think you could talk to her about--"
"No. The girl that you just called a whore is basically my big sister. You don't mess with my sister, okay? And by the way, Calum was always better than you. I liked him so much better. In fact, I'm gonna call him and get the two of them back together. And God so help me, if I see you with a girl in the next six months, I will find her and tell her what a dick you are. Goodbye."
He left, I walked in, and saw Emma on the couch in tears.
"You meant what you said?"
"Every word, I fucking love you Em. People can't just say things like that to great people like you."
"Thank you."
"I'm always here for you, now, mint chocolate chip or coffee?", I asked looking into the freezer at the ice cream.
"Mint chocolate chip. And can we watch a movie? I just want to get my mind off him... I miss Calum.."
"You really never got over him did you?"
"No, he was perfect. I loved him. He said he wanted a break from relationships to do music and stuff... do you think he'd want to go out again?"
"I can't guarantee it, but I think I can persuade him."
I called Mia:
"Hey! What's up?"
"Need Luke's number."
"Okaaaayyyy... I'll talk to Ashton."
She gave me his number and I called it.
"Who's this?" He asked in his beautiful Australian accent...
"Purple haired chick. I dunno, you might remember me."
"Oh, God. I know so many purple haired chicks. There were three in my apartment today in total. There was also seven blue haired chicks, and one green haired chick.. well, sorta. The green haired one was Michael.", He laughed, "Were you the one with green eyes? She was beautiful."
I knew he was joking about all the girls, but I got a pang of jealousy in my chest.
"Yes, that was me. But I think you have me mistaken for someone else. I'm not beautiful."
"Well then what are you?"
'In love with you', I thought.
'Not pretty enough for you', I thought.
'Anything but beautiful', I thought.
"Intreaguing.", I said.
"Alright then. You are my Alaska-like, intriguingly beautiful girl."
"Duuuude I'm not pretty."
"When was the last time you looked in the mirror? It must have been years ago because what I saw earlier was beautiful."
"I think..."
"Yeah?"
"I think I love you."
"I think I love you too Delilah."
"Okay."
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah."
I hung up, breathless.
"Why'd you call him?"
"I was gonna ask if he could set you up with Calum, he knows him."
"Well did you?"
"No, I will later. More important things happened."
So much more important.
