Consistency lurks within the stars
Like beads of blood linking jagged lines on my skin
Dust of heaven links the stars
Broadcasting to lesser beings an unchanging sky
And yet we still marvel at it
The vast majority of oblivion
Strikes fear and awe
Reigning dominant like a blade against my self-will
Gods manipulating our worlds
Free-will wrecking us with stupidity
Control or controlled
Awe and fear
Feeling so at home
Yet unable to shake the sense
That I don't belong here
Hands in the sand and roaring black waves
Crashing against my toes
Perched on a boulder on the mountain's peak
Feeling like a God, feeling like a King
In frigid poverty
Rich in warmth of goods
Breathing for granted
Or mere moments until devoured by the worms
The stars remain unchanged
Shining brighter on no one
They purge beauty onto all
Unto some as an accompaniment to majesty
To others a cruel snub of the cold universe
Like skin breaking seamlessly beneath my steel
The stars part into day
And life resumes to the mundane
With the day comes reality
But later, with the night, comes the chance to believe that there will be more
The day may be altered
But the stars will remain unchanged
