1980

I slept in my bed alone.

I finally accepted the fact that Queen wasn't coming back home. That Freddie wasn't going to marry me, and that Freddie moved on with Jim.

The phone rang, I groaned as I sat up and slowly walked towards the phone.

I yawned, "Hello?"

"Lily? Lily?" A woman frantically called my name.

I squinted my eyes, "Yoko...?" I slowly said.

"Yes, it's me, Yoko!" She cried.

Why is Yoko calling me this early? What the hell does she want?

Why is she crying?

"Yoko, what's wrong?" I said, growing concern.

"It's John!" She cried.

My heart started beating faster, "What about John?" I said, more awake.

"He's been shot!" Yoko cried.

I gasped, "W-What? Yoko, I'll be there right a-"

"No, don't come here!" She yelled.

"Why not?" I softly said, my voice wobbling.

"Lily?" Yoko whispered.

"Yeah?" I started crying.

There was a moment of silence over the phone.

"Lily.. John's dead" Yoko sobbed.

My heart dropped. I fell to my knees, holding the phone.

I covered the phone as I screamed.

"WHY!!!!" I cried.

"Lily?" Yoko's voice cried.

"Yes?" I said, answering the phone again.

"I don't want you to come here, because he's dead... There won't be a funeral... I..I think it's better if you two remember each other the last time you saw each other" Yoko's voice cracked.

"Y-You knew?" I cried.

Yoko sighed over the line, "I found out when he got drunk, he told me about his holiday at your home.." She sighed.

I shook my head, "Yoko, I-I'm so sorry.." I cried.

Yoko sighed again, "Don't be sorry, dear... You two belonged together" She admitted.

I gasped, trying to catch my breath, "W-What?"

"Mhm.. He used to tell me all the time that it's my fault he couldn't be happy. He blamed me for getting pregnant. John always yelled at me of how he was going to marry you and not some woman like me" Yoko laughed.

I gasped, "Yoko, I-"

"No, Lily.. It's fine. He said these things when he was drunk. John also was never affectionate to me even though I was his wife, he just thought about you all the time." Yoko said.

My heart broke, "John loved me?" I whispered.

"Yes.. He still does, I can tell he'll be watching you... It was always obvious that he was the love of your life and you were the love of his. And when he saw you get engaged to Freddie Mercury, he broke. John drank more and cussed me out. In fact, I even had to kick him out again." Yoko explained.

I listened closely, "Don't be so sad, Lily. Because he'll always be there for you. He's watching.."

I sobbed, "I do love him, Yoko.."

Yoko started crying, "I know.. John said you made him go to me.. Thank you, Lily. But he should've stayed with you. None of this would've happened!" She sobbed.

I shook my head, "Don't blame yourself, Yoko. It was for the best, and him being shot well.. We couldn't protect him..." I softly said.

Yoko said nothing, eventually we started sobbing on the phone together.

"What are you going to tell Sean?" I asked.

Yoko cried, "That's just it! I don't know!"

I sniffled, "I know John will watch him too. He loved Sean.."

"Yeah, but not me!" Yoko cried harder.

I shook my head, "No, Yoko. He did love you deep down. John loved a lot of people and you happened to be one. He may not have shown it, but he did.." I sniffled.

Yoko sighed, "Thank you, Lily" She sobbed.

"I must go now" Yoko said.

"Please, stay strong" She said and hung up.

I hung up the phone and looked outside.

He isn't gone.. He can't be.. I cried slightly.

I felt a light touch on my shoulder, I turned around and saw a bright light beam in my home.

"Lily.." Said a whisper.

"J-John?" I whispered back.

"I'm here" Said a whisper.

I smiled slightly, "Stay" I giggled.

I felt a touch on my cheek, "I'll always be here" The whisper echoed.

I'll always be here.

Always.
