As I look at my reflection in the mirror, I can see what Lizzy saw.
An unrecognizable face stares back at me.
I step into the shower.
The little droplets falling as the shower is turned on reminds me of the rain, on one particular night.
-Flashback-
Red and blue lights flashing repeatedly. Drops of rain staining my gray cardigan and maroon dress.
I notice none of this, because all my focus is on the one person, laying lifeless on a stretcher, pale as a sheet of paper.
Someone is holding me back from reaching her.
"She'll be okay!" "They'll heal her!" This person says, as if it's supposed to reassure me.
Then I watch as the ambulance takes her away.
-End of flashback-
The reminder at the memory causes me tears, but my tears blend in with the flowing water of the shower.
