30: She's Dead

Izana: yanagi. I have something to talk to you about.

Honoka: oh~ finally coming around?

Izana: it's not like that.

Yanagi; you're a shinigami .

Izana: hai. Kind of.

Yanagi: then why are you in school?!! You're supposed to be dead!!

Izana: yanagi sure knows quite a bit. Well. I'm never dead. I'm still human. If you kill me, I'll really die and won't be able to return to my body. As for toshiro, he was using a gigai. A shell. If you pierced him, he wouldn't die. Cos like you said. He died already. You won't even see blood.

Yanagi: I see.

Izana: yanagi... You hate shinigamis?

Yanagi: well... That's not really your business. And... Sorry for misleading you. We're not possible.

He walks off passing by Ichigo as ichigo walks in " hey. Izana. "

Izana: oh. Ichigo.

Ichigo: what happened? Yanagi looked kind of... Depressed.

Izana: well... Yanagi can see spirits

Ichigo: eh?! Really?

Izana: for some reason... He really really hates shinigamis. I've no idea why.

Ichigo: I see.

Izana: what is it?

Ichigo: oh. Right... We're going to the beach tomorrow. We're meeting with ikkaku and the others as well.

Izana: um. Sure.

She was returning from school and saw a spirit wandering around. She went to the spirit to chat with it for a while. She realised the chain on the spirit was going to be gone. She sighed " you have to go ok. I'll send you to a place where you can belong."

" I don't belong here? What are you talking about?"

Izana: if this goes on, you'll become a monster. You wouldn't want that would you?

" No... But..."

Izana: you'll end up eating your imoto if you become that monster. Ok?

" Ok then..."

She takes out her zanpaktou and was ready to a soul burial when someone stopped her " stop what you're doing!!"

She turned around " ... Yanagi...?" She sees him holding a gun pointing at her. It was close range. There was no way that bullet would miss if yanagi were to trigger it.

Izana: where did you get a gun?

Yanagi: one my little secrets. I'm actually mafia.

Izana: ok... What do you want?

Yanagi: I know what you're going to do!! You're going to make that boy disappear!! Let him go!!

Izana: what... No. I'm sending him to a more appropriately place. So he wouldn't turn into a hollow. They eat spirits. Spirits who get eaten won't get to reincarnate. By going to soul society they get to reincarnate.

Yanagi: how would I know if you're not lying?!!

Izana: why would I make all of this up? Yanagi. You have seen hollows haven't you?

Yanagi: you mean those monsters.

Izana: they eat spirits. See his chain. He's turning soon if I don't send him to soul society. He won't be alone. Many people are there.

Yanagi slowly puts down his gun " ... That's where my nee-chan went?..."

Izana: she's... Dead? You saw a shinigami did a soul burial?

Yanagi: she just... Disappeared... Even if she was dead... She was still by my side...

" YOU PEOPLE JUST HAD TO BE MEDDLESOME." He raised his gun once more and shot her in the head.

Izana pov:

I always wondered what death feels like. I mean... Being shinigami means certain death since you meet hollows . And if you get killed as a shinigami, that meant death as well. Theoretically... You become just spirit particles. Nothing.

So... I always wondered. What's death?  It could be just a soul coming out of my body. That would be too... Mundane. Uninteresting.

My soul left my body..

Ha... This is how it feels like... Pain... But not that much. Guess that's cos I wasn't stabbed to death.

Third person pov:

She looked to her body and went over to looked at her expression . A shocked expression with a hole in her head. She laughed at her own body " even I'm afraid of death huh. "

Yanagi got scared. He stared shooting at her body. She just laughed " I'm dead already. Shooting my body won't cause extra holes in me yanagi." He starts to shoot her . She dodges.

Yanagi: what's going on?!!

Izana: not that those bullets can harm me now that I'm really dead... But those still give people bruises. I don't want to be hit by something like that.

Ishida: izana!

Izana: ishida. Yo.

Ishida looked to the ground and yanagi's hand. " Yanagi... you... Killed her?"

Yanagi: she's not dead!!

Ishida took a closer look " she is dead!! "

Yanagi: what...

Ishida: there's blood!! And a shot to her head!!! How can anyone not die from that?!!

Yanagi threw the gun and ran.

Ishida: you're going to leave him?

Izana: what else? Chase him? It's not like this is a haunted ghost story.

Ishida: but he killed you!!! Though you don't seem very dead now.

Izana laughed " there's that. Ok... Call papa. We need to bury my body."

Ishida: don't we need to call police or something?

Izana: are you crazy? Do you want yanagi to end up in jail?

Ishida: he did kill you.

Izana: it's ok. I don't really mind it anyway.

Ishida: you're one of the most relaxed dead person I know.

Izana: arigato.
