Narrators POV:

Cullen shifted nervously and fiddled with pieces of his armor. He sat in his room talking to Cole, who noticed Cullen's distress over the Inquisitor being gone to fight a dragon.

The room was dim and messy. Y/N always made sure things were neat and in order, but without her here Cullen hasn't been able to think of anything else besides her.

"I should've gone with her..." Cullen mutters as he begins to feel light-headed and sits down on a chair next to his desk.

"Y/N is strong," is all Cole says.

Cullen looks up at Cole and sighs. The  candle on his desk flickers with his breath, and makes Cole jump a bit at the movement of the flame.

"I can check to see if she is here now if you want me to." Cole mutters, stranding alone in the darkness.

"Yes, Cole, that would be great." Cullen nods as Cole promptly vanishes.

Cullen did appreciate Cole trying to comfort him, but he still felt uneasy around Cole. He still wasn't sure if Cole was a spirit or a human, and this unknown gave Cullen an uneasy queasiness in his stomach. The truth was the only person who could comfort him right now is Y/N.

After a few minutes Cole knocked on Cullen's door, for he had learned not to just pop into Cullen's room without notice, and Cullen ushered him in.

"Is she here?" Cullen says with a hopeful tone.

"I-" Cole hesitates, not sure what to say. "She just came in with Solas, Cassandra, and Varric."

Cullen let out a sigh of relief and stood up. "Where is she?"

"Well..." Cole mumbles as he grabs onto his hat. "She is with one of the healers. Varric said 'Curly needs to come quickly'."

Cullen felt his heart drop and his face grow pale. He grew light-headed again and he pictures the worst in his head. Hundreds of thoughts ran through his head, but he couldn't seem to get any words out.

"Do you want me to take you to her?"

All Cullen does is nod and the two rush out of Cullen's quarters and down the stairs to the healing tents.

Cole pointed to the tent where Y/N was in. Outside of the tent were all of Y/N companions and friends, except for Solas, who was in with the healers trying to help. They all looked up at Cullen then looked back down with a solemn frown. Everything was quiet except for the occasional mutter from a healer.

"You should go in." Varric mentions to Cullen.

"Solas said no one was allowed in." Cassandra butts in. "As much as I believe you should see her; I think we should let our healers do their job."

The group gives a unanimous nod and Cullen sighs, rubs his brow and sits on the ground next to Dorian, Varric, and Cole.

***

It felt like ages before Solas walked out of the tent and looked at Cullen. "You can come in." Solas goes to say something else, but stops himself and opens the tent flap for Cullen to walk in.

The tent was small and filled with potions and bandages. The Inquisitor layer on a cot in the middle of the tent. She moved slowly and winced each time. She was awake, but just barely.

"Y/N." Cullen mutters and Y/N's eyes dart open.

Cullen walks towards her and grabs onto her hand.

"I told you I didn't need an army." Y/N says with a prideful smile. "I have luck on my side."

Cullen gives a small smile and looks at her wounds to see that she was covered in cuts and bruises and burns.

"I'd hardly say you're lucky."

She quickly changes the subject, "is that a gray hair?" She teases.

How she had the strength to tease him, and make him laugh, Cullen would never know.

"Only one? I think I sprouted three every hour you were gone."

"Don't worry so much!" Y/N says as she gives Cullen's hand a soft kiss.

"You almost died from a dragon and you're telling me not to worry?"

"I'm still here, aren't I?"

"Can you promise me one thing?"

"Of course."

"Will you stop doing such dangerous tasks?"

"It was only one dragon..." Y/N says with a pout. "But I guess next time I'll be more cautious if that's what you want."

Cullen gives a quick nod and moves her hair out of her face. He had so many things to tell her, but he decided to let her rest.

"I thought I lost you." Cullen muttered but Y/N was already in a sleepy haze.
