Author's Note:

My cat is currently sleeping across my neck and staring into my screen. He is my little book critic who is also trying to choke me out.

Your Character's Point of View:

I wake up to a softness brushing against my cheek. I let out a giggle as I roll over and mutter in my raspy morning voice, "Anders, get your hair out of my face!"

A small snort and stifled laugh are all I get in return.; I slowly open my eyes and as my eyes adjust to see a black cat's tail in my face I furrow my brows. "Anders..." I say in a neutral tone.

Anders takes in a deep breath and gives a fake shocked look. "Oh! This cat just happened to sneak inside the house, and then jump up on our bed to snuggle with us, Wow! What are the odds of that?!" Anders says semi sarcastically as he smothers the cat with kisses and hugs. The cat seems a bit bewildered, but happy to accept love.

"Is this the only one?" I ask, knowing his tricks of hiding cats.

"Yes... for now." He mummers the last part into the cats ear, but I can still make it out.

I sit up and pick up the cat. She had piercing, shimmering, gold eyes, and a small, skinny body. She gives me a soft meow as she sticks her tongue out at me. "Aww~" I coo. Anders sits up with a huge grin on his face.

"So we can keep her in the house? We can keep her? Can we pleeeeeease!" He asks like a child.

"First I need to interrogate you." I raise an evil eyebrow as a set the cat in my lap and pet her menacingly. "Where and when did you find her?"

"Last night she was crying at our doorstep. Isn't that sooooooo sad!" Anders puts extra emphasis on the last part, hoping to make me feel guilty.

"Alright, did you name her yet?"

He twiddles with his hair for a moment and then states: "Of course I did, but we are both the cat parents, so we have to come up with a name together."

"Well... Fine. If no one says they are the owner within a week or two, then I suppose there's no harm in having one cat in the house."

Anders squeals with joy as he picks up the cat from my lap. "Come my princess, it's time for a bath!" The cat meows tensely in reply. "Don't worry, it's good for you!" he says cheerfully back.

***

Anders and I sit in the tavern giggling in the corner. All of our friends gathered at a table. We had told them we had very important news, and to meet up here.

Anders cradles the still unnamed cat in his arms and gives her a reassuring pet. After living with us for a little over a week she certainty got chubbier and also accepting of constant cuddles.

"So, what should I say?" I whisper, trying to not laugh.

"Just day whatever you want, and then I'll reveal our baby." Anders smiles and kisses my cheek as he is still cradling the cat in his arms.

I let out some chuckles before walking up to the confused group of friends. Varric especially seemed suspicious.

"Okay, now that's the gang is all here we have some exciting news to share-" I start until I am cut off my Varric.

"If blondie and you are having a child I'm leaving." He says bluntly.

I blush and try not to snort by holding in my laugh.

"You're JOKING RIGHT?!" Isabella yells dramatically as she spits out her drink. "You're PREGNANT?!"

Anders creeps up next to me and shows the cat to the group. "Surprise! Here she is!"

Fenris rolls his eyes as he chugs some wine and sighs. The rest of the group looks confused for a minute until Varric chuckles. The mood lightens and everyone lets out a laugh of relief.

"Let me see her!" Varric says holding out his arms; Anders holds the cat closer to his chest. "Ah, you're the overprotective parent I see."
