A/N: Double update because I missed yall so much! Please enjoy this chapter and have a good night! I'm gonna keep this short because I kind of want to smash out another chapter before I need to go to bed so (maybe) see yall later! And now... OFF TO THE CHAPTER!!

-------

He didn't move as he watched me. Normally, I would've held his gaze and stared right back, but now I couldn't even look at him. Something changed last night and I desperately needed to figure out what it was. We stayed that way for what felt like forever before I realized he was waiting for me to say something.

"Please don't hurt me." I whispered. My voice cracked and I could feel tears threatening to spill over. I could tell he was surprised. He definitely expected me to argue or ask a question about the stupid microphone, not to ask him what I did. But I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't. I wanted to be able to fight back, to kick and scream and fight, but the knowledge that I couldn't win was like a knife hanging over my head. I was giving up after barely getting started. No. This isn't me. I  will  fight back... just not right now.

"I won't. I promise."  I couldn't tell if he was lying or not, but for the moment I decided to believe him.

Xavier's POV:

I wanted to kick myself. I did exactly what I didn't want to do. I broke her. I made her give up. Maybe it's just a phase, maybe tomorrow she'll be back, right as rain. But I certainly wasn't going to push her tonight. Not until she's okay. I moved off of her and laid down beside, pulling her into my chest. She rested her head on my chest and just for a moment I thought everything could go back to the way it was. But it can't. The only way she'll ever be mine and mine alone is if I keep doing what I'm doing. I felt the anger swell up again and I let it override my emotions, putting me in the right mindset to do what I needed to.

She fell asleep quickly but I didn't. I stayed awake the whole night, planning and thinking about all the things that I could make happen in the days to come. I needed to set rules for her so that she would know exactly what not to do, and so that she wouldn't think I punished her for every little thing. Looking at the clock, I realized with a shock that it was almost time for her alarm to go off. It was only 20 minutes until it was set to ring. 'Might as well go ahead and wake her up so that I can tell her these rules,'  I thought. Five minutes later she was awake and staring at me through bleary, sleep filled eyes.

"I need to tell you some rules so that you know what not to do so that you can stay out of trouble with me." I told her. I saw some of her old fire flare up in her eyes. Good. "One, do everything I say, no matter what it is. Two, do not talk to any male that I don't give you permission to talk to. Three, do not tell anyone a single thing about what we do, you're lucky I decided not to punish you for that earlier. I will add more later when a situation comes where there needs to be one. Understand?"

"Why can't I talk to any other guy?" She asked, thoroughly confused. I rolled my eyes at her innocence.

"Because you're mine." I said with possessiveness heavy in my voice. She grinded her teeth together and I could easily sense her frustration. She didn't answer as she got up and began getting ready for school. She was okay now. I could sense her need to rebel again. I ignored it and stood up, and checked the time again, I needed to get going if I wanted to stop by the house to change. "I'll be back at 7:15, be waiting for me." I told her. She nodded and I made my way out of her house and to my car.

Katherine's POV:

As soon as he was gone, I pulled out my phone and called Sadie. She answered on the first ring.

"Oh my god Kat are you okay??"

"Yeah yeah I'm fine." I knew I had to be careful about what I said with the microphone hidden somewhere.

"I was so worried I could barely drive, or sleep, or breathe, please tell me he didn't do anything."

"He didn't, I'm fine. I was just calling to tell you that I was okay."

"I can come pick you up if you want me to. I can be there in five minutes, tops."

"Sadie you live 15 minutes away from me. There's no way you could get here that quick." I said, laughing at her words.

"Bet. But for real, do you want me to come get you?"

"No, no better not. I love you though, I'll see you at school okay?"

"Okay..."

I hung up and set my phone down with a sigh. Fuck Xavier and his fucking rules. I needed to find that microphone and get rid of it. I felt like I was on flat ground with landmines spread everywhere; one wrong step equaled consequences. I quickly finished getting ready. I was tempted to drive to school. I normally didn't because it was a waste of gas since Sadie came by anyway, but I could drive. I slowly pulled my keys off the ring and stared at them. It was 7:10, if I was going to leave I needed to leave now. I hurriedly walked outside and ran to the garage where my car was kept. I quickly sat down and shoved the keys into the ignition, turning the key as I shut the door. Seconds after it cranked, my phone began ringing. It was Xavier. He couldn't stop me once I started moving, so I took the time to answer his call.

"Don't you fucking dare." He growled through the phone.

"Don't what?" I asked innocently as I backed out of the garage. I could hear his engine get louder through the phone, meaning he was going faster.

"You know what I'm talking about. I swear to god do not  leave your house." He demanded. I smirked as I turned onto the road and sped away from my house.

"Or what?" I baited him.

"Or your ass is mine and you won't leave my house for three days." He threatened. I shivered at the threat but didn't show it.

"Only if you catch me. Good luck motherfucker." I hung up the phone on that note and threw my head back laughing. It felt good. Then, I passed him going the opposite way, still going towards my house. He glared at me from his car and I flipped him off. Then I remembered the microphone.

"You can hear me, can't you? Well guess what, you don't control me, you don't own me. I can't believe that last night I wanted to give up, but now I'm better than ever and you can't break me. Have fun finding me today." After that I was silent. I turned on the radio and turned it up all the way so that if he was listening he couldn't hear anything but music. He had proved that he was weak last night. He wouldn't hurt me if I did the unexpected and apologized and begged. But there was still no way I was going to school. As soon as I stopped and got out of the car, my chances severely dropped. I needed to go someplace with loads of people. So that even if he found me, all it would take would be a yell and people would be there in a snap. Then my mind flashed to the mall about an hour away in the city. Perfect. Even during the week it would be packed with people. With my destination in mind, I let my thoughts drift and for the first time in a while, felt truly happy and free again. I knew at some point he would catch me and I'd have to go back, but for now, I was fine.
