He took me home after that, thankfully. I dreaded going back to school tomorrow, but I eventually fell into a restless sleep.
I woke up that morning with two texts, one from my mom, and one from Xavier. I didn't want to start the day with him, so I opened my mom's message first.
~Mom
Good morning, sorry I didn't see you this morning, I had to leave for work early. Xavier called and asked for my permission to drive you to school from now on, of course I said yes. Don't make him wait on you and you might want to call Sadie and tell her not to come get you. Have a good day at school, I love you!Fuck. Xavier just went through a loophole that I definitely didn't want him going through. I groaned when I opened his message.
~Xavier
I'll be at your house at 7:30, you better be waiting for me. And wear shorts, it's warm outside.Sadie always came to my house at 7:15, and I was planning on leaving with her, and even going to the length of wearing my favorite pair of jeans. I quickly got ready and ran out to my back porch to wait for her. I nervously twisted my phone around in my hands, wondering if I'd regret my decision. Just then, her car pulled into my driveway and around to the back to get me. As soon as I seen her car, my internal debate ended and I ran out to meet her. I quickly jumped in and slammed the door behind me.
"Hey!" She said, overly happy for a Monday morning.
"Hey." I sighed back. She glanced at me worriedly as she pulled out of my drive. Then I had the sudden urge to look behind me, so I did. And when I did, I instantly regretted my decision to ride with Sadie. Xavier was leaning against his car at the front of my house. "Fuck!" I yelled and quickly turned back around. She then slammed onto the brakes and I was slung forward.
"What?!" She asked loudly.
"Nothing! Just go!" I answered while looking over my shoulder to see Xavier laughing. I'm glad to see that he finds this amusing. She resumed driving and immediately began questioning me. "What just happened?" She asked. I quickly summed up the texts from this morning and then told her that Xavier was already at my house, waiting to see what I would do. She looked over at me, worry written all over her face. "Do you think you'll be okay?"
I sighed, "I don't know. Something happened last night. He seemed different. Like he did before the break up. I don't know exactly what happened, I'm kinda confused about it. It's hard to explain..." I trailed off, replaying last nights events in my head.
"Do you think he's mad now?"
"I'm sure he is. Can I come over to your house tonight?" I asked, hoping she would say yes.
"No, my parents won't be home, and you know how they are if I have other people in the house when they aren't there. Would it be fine if I came to yours?"
I thought about it for a second. I didn't really know if Xavier would just go through her to get to me or not, but it was better than nothing. "Yeah, that should help. I'll call Mom and make sure but you know she'll say yes."
"Okay. So he's supposed to be driving you from now on?"
"I guess so. I'm going to try to talk him out of it, but I doubt I will be able to. You know how possessive he was. It's even worse now."
"You know, you could just talk to somebody-"
"No. I'm not talking to anyone but you." That ended the conversation and the rest of the ride was silent. When we got to the school, we walked in together and headed straight for first period.
