Red, orange, amber,
The coal burns bright.
Oozing, melting,
Smoldering smoke.------------------------
"... Lilian?"
She blinked a few times, snapping out of her thoughts. She stared at the three people in front of her, confused. She sat straight in her seat, studying the three people in front of her. 2 guys and a girl.
The girl was more or less the definition of beautiful - straight, platinum blonde hair cascading down to her waist, icy blue eyes, a curvy figure and a height of no less than 5'5". Not to mention, her perfect defined cheekbones and a jawline that could slice a person in half. The girl's full, rosy lips curved into a tentative smile. Lilian shrunk back slightly, intimidated by the girl in front of her. Her gaze shifted to the two guys. Both were tall. Intimidatingly tall. She shrunk back even further.
The first guy was around 6' with a lean but muscular body. His chestnut hair was fashionably messy, like a model's. His face was long and triangular, with coal eyes slanting downwards, prominent cheekbones and an incredibly strong jawline. The corners of his thin lips were turned slightly upward into something that barely passed as a smile. The other male was noticeably shorter, around 5'7", but slightly more bulkier than the taller. His ashy blonde hair was messy yet neat at the same time. His silver, almond shaped eyes glittered merrily, angled slightly upwards. His lips were parted in an enthusiastic smile.
Lilian looked up at the three, confused. She hadn't been expecting to be approached by three apparently perfect human beings within her first week of college.
"Um... Can I help you?"
The girl's smile widened and she stuck out her slender hand for a handshake.
"My name's Lucille Wolfhart."
The shorter male spoke up next.
"I'm Chai-son Aksornpan and he's Aaron Park."
Lilian's frown deepened.
"I'm sorry could you repeat that?"
The male's grin widened.
"Kidding. My name's William Blackwood. He's still Aaron Park though."
Lilian stared at him, thoroughly confused.
"Then what was that Chai-whatever thing you just said?"
He chuckled, amused.
"That's my cousins name. I'm half Thai, you see."
Lilian nodded slowly, not quite 'seeing' what he meant. She tentatively reached out to shake Lucille's hand.
"I'm Lilian Meyers. Oh but wait. You already know my name."
Lucille grinned, showing off her perfect, pearly teeth. She didn't bother to confirm how exactly she knew Lilian's name.
"Want to be friends?"
Lilian looked at Aaron, startled. His voice was deep and a little husky, sending delightful shivers down her back. She shrugged tentatively.
"Um sure, I guess?"
Aaron's lips stretched a bit more into a more friendly smile. Lucille immediately plopped herself down beside Lilian, leaning back against the seat comfortably.
"I'm pretty sure you haven't noticed, considering your obvious surprise when I showed up in front of you, but I'm in your Psychology class. Will here is in your foreign languages class and art class. And well Aaron's our brainiac so he's over in the math and science departments. I just happened to sort of run into him on the first day of college."
Lucille and Aaron both glanced at each other, Lucille's expression amused and Aaron's somewhat embarrassed.
"Oh guys, have you heard? Apparently mirrors were smashed everywhere all over the city."
Lilian looked at William, startled.
"Mirrors?"
William nodded and then frowned.
"How did you not notice? Weren't the mirrors in your house smashed too? The ones in mine were. I almost cut myself trying to get out of bed. It was freaky."
Lilian shook her head slowly.
"I don't have any mirrors in my house."
The three glanced at each other briefly before focusing their attention back on Lilian. Lilian shrunk back from the attention, fighting the urge to curl up into a small ball and not returning their gazes. Instead, she stared down at her lap, her fingers curling into tight fists.
"You don't have any mirrors in your house? How?"
Lilian slowly glanced to her side at Lucille, biting the inside of her lip.
"I... I just... don't."
Lucille seemed shocked.
"Why? I mean how? I mean.. aghhh! I don't know how to put it! Have you never had mirrors in your house? And like without a mirror how do you check to see how you look? Like when you need to go out somewhere or do your hair or-"
"I don't go out. I don't do anything to my hair except brush it. If I really want to see how I look I use my phone camera. And I haven't had mirrors for..."
Lilian frowned, her head suddenly aching.
"That's funny. I remember having mirrors in my house before but I don't remember looking at my reflection."
