A shocked silence engulfed the group. Nobody dared speak, no one dared to even breath. Their eyes were glued to the two boys in front of them, red dripping from a hole in one of the boy's head.
"Oh my god..." Heather M. mumbled, being the first to speak.
"Holy shit..." Rich said, his voice just above a whisper.
The color drained from JD's face as his grip around Evan loosened. He dropped the gun, and Evan pushed himself away, stumbling back to look at him. JD collasped into the grass, eyes quickly loosing color.
All eyes turned to one person. Connor shot daggers at JD's body with his eyes, gun in hand, expression full of pure hatred.
Evan was trembling, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. "C-Con, did you...?"
Connor's expression softened when he looked at Evan. He dropped the gun and went over to the smaller boy, pulling him into a hug. "Yeah, I did. I'm sorry."
"Sorry? W-why are you...?" Evan mumbled, hugging him back and crying softly into his shirt.
"I don't know." Connor chuckled dryly and pulled out of the hug, cupping Evan's face. "Are you okay? He didn't hurt you, did he?"
Evan shook his head. "No, I'm okay... Thank you."
"No problem." Connor smiled. It was obvious he was trying to be casual about the situation, but anyone could see that he was worried.
Veronica walked over to JD, scowling at his body. He kicked dirt onto his still chest and said, "Asshole."
Nobody else said anything. They all glanced at each other, Veronica and Connor volunteered to get rid of JD's body, and that was the end of it. Everyone went inside and sat down, beginning conversations with each other as if everything was normal.
