Let me as you a question. How long does it take for a group of 18 to start numbering casualties? Well, I don't know the answer, but hey, we'll figure it out soon.

The group decided to send a few people out for supplies, because a lot of them were beginning to get paranoid. It was Connor, Alex, Veronica, Phillip, and Cameron. It took heavy convincing to let Cameron go, and even more to let Phillip. But they decided that the older ones would pay extra close attention to them, and they set out.

It was going well for a while. Connor hotwired a car they found in some parking lot, and they used it to go to a town a bit farther away. When they got there, they found a good amount of food and supplies. While the adults were ransacking a super market, Cameron and Phillip decided to wander off and check a convenience store.

They pried the doors open and walked in, trying to see in the darkness. "You see anything?" Phillip whispered, and Cameron shook her head.

"No... You?"

"No."

They walked farther in, finding a few water bottles and a candy bar. Phillip decided to check the main office, but the door was locked. He climbed onto the counter and found a key.

Phillip was trying to unlock the door, when Cameron heard something groaning. She looked around, then at the door Phillip was at. "Wait, Phillip, don't!"

He didn't wait. She stood up and ran over as the door swung open, and a zombie fell on top of him. He screamed, trying to push it off and trying his hardest not to get bitten. Then there was a gunshot, and Phillip screamed again. The body fell limp on top of him. He looked over at Cameron. She had the gun in her hand.

She dropped the gun and went over to push the zombie off of him. "Hey, um... Thanks for saving m--" He was cut off when she hugged him, and then pulled away and hit him in the head.

"Ow! What the heck?"

"You're an idiot! That's what!"

He laughed a bit, rubbing his head. "Sorry."

"Don't 'sorry' me." She was trying to stay angry, but she was starting to smile. "You could've gotten killed."

"But I didn't!"

"Yeah, thanks to me."

"Yep."

She rolled her eyes and helped him stand up, getting her gun. As they walked out, the others ran over. "Phillip!" Alex cried and went over to him, seeing the zombie's blood on his face. "I heard a gunshot! Are you okay? What happened?"

Cameron smiled. "I guess I don't exist then."

Phillip rolled his eyes at her. "I'm fine, pop."

Connor looked at Cameron. "What happened?"

"A zombie jumped him and I killed it."

That only made Alex worry more. "Oh my god. We're you bitten?" He checked the boy for wounds, sighing when he found none. "Be careful."

Phillip nodded. They said it was time to go. Veronica took Cameron's hand and led them all to the car. The ride was mostly silent.

When they got back, everyone found out what happened thanks to Alex. Everyone looked at Eliza instantly, expecting her to be mad. See looked scared. "Oh, Phillip. Okay, that's it."

Phillip frowned, expecting her to ban him from going outside all together. But instead, she said, "We need to teach him to shoot. Cameron? Can you do that for me?"

Cameron smiled brightly and nodded. "Yes, ma'am!"

Eliza nodded back. "Thank you."

She took Phillip's hand and led him into another room. Everyone was shocked.
