Filler chapter ;)

I've decided I'm only going to chapter 25, but I will be making a sequel.

Sorry these past chapters have been rather uneventful, and this is a quite uneventful filler chapter, but I promise chapter 25 will be action-packed!

...Yeah right.

December 4th, 2015, 8:49 AM, Amanda's Birthday ~

The two men were woken up by Hamish crying. This wasn't unusual, they'd been waking up about 5 times per night for the past couple days. It was to be expected, babies are a handful, but that didn't make it any more enjoyable.

"It's your turn," John muttered, rolling over and covering his ears to block out the noise.

Sherlock groggily got out of bed and picked the wailing boy up, rocking him back and forth to calm his cries until he finally quieted down.

Amanda came into the room, woken up by one, Hamish's crying, and two, it was her birthday.

"Shush, Hamish," she cooed jokingly, and the baby reached over and grabbed a strand of her hair.

Gina came in moment later, reaching up to pat Hamish on the head, "Hi, little baby."

"Go grab his bottle from the fridge," Sherlock instructed, and Gina rushed off. Amanda followed, getting cereal for both of them.

The detective made his way into the sitting room, careful not to bang Hamish's head on the door frame as he walked in. Amanda brought a bottle of milk to him, and Sherlock gave Hamish his breakfast on the couch.

10:50 AM ~

A knock sounded at the door.

"John!" Sherlock called. Moments later, John came shuffling out of the room with a yawn, "I know, I know."

When he opened the door, loud chatter could be heard as what sounded like multiple people filed into the flat.

Loud foot traffic ascended up the stairs and then Lestrade, Molly, Mycroft, and Mrs. Hudson entered the room.

"Uncle Mycroft!" Amanda ran up to her uncle and gave him a hug, followed by Gina. Sherlock gave him a sly smile from where he sat still cradling baby Hamish on the couch.

John felt a pain in his chest as he realized they never got to meet their aunt Harriet.

"You know, brother," Sherlock smirked, "It would be rather funny if Amanda's parents were a gay couple, me and John, and they also had two uncles..." The detective looked between Mycroft and Lestrade and back again.

"Dear brother," Mycroft scoffed, "You know I'm not gay with Lestrade."

Greg looked up in surprise at such an accusation.

"Anyway, let me get dressed for the party," John hurried off to his room to put on his festive red-and-white zigzag jumper.

Sherlock was already dressed in, yet again, his purple shirt. They had put Hamish in a tiny blue striped onesie.

"Happy birthday, girls," Molly went to give them a hug. She'd become quite close to them in the past year, and was now almost like a third parent.

They had also gotten to know Lestrade very well, helping him clean up the odd murder/suicide case (yes, they were still happening).
