Chapter 3: The Nurse's Office

Shadows POV - Back to present

I had been in the office at least 10 minutes slowly cleaning some of the wounds that were obvious and bleeding rather heavily. My eyes caught a red patch steadily appearing at the bottom of her top, above her abdomem. It seemed to be expanding at a fast rate. I slowly lifted up the bottom of her top and  I couldn't believe my eyes. How was she able to fight with this? What did this to her? And when? She had a huge gash across her stomach starting from the bottom of her rib cage on the left side of her body going to her hip on the right side of her body. It was pouring out blood. I quickly grabbed some tissues, disinfectant and a huge bandage and pad. Once I had cleaned up the blood, I wiped some disinfectant around the wound. I could tell Amy felt it, as her body moved slightly as she winced. I quickly placed the pad over the top before looking around the room for some blocks of some kind. I couldn't put the bandage on her while she was lying on her back. I found some foam things which didn't look like they were being used for anything important, well hopefully. I slowly lifted up her back and slid the foam strips under her and did the same under her butt. I checked her wound briefly and saw that it was bleeding slightly but no where near like before. I quickly got to work wrapping her stomach in a bandage. I spent the entire day slowly bandaging up the rest of her body before finding one of the hospital blankets and slowly draping it over her body whilst she slept. The nurse never appeared and neither did the teacher. I heard the other students in the corridor between each lesson and realised that the day must be finished after I stopped hearing noise outside the room. 

The door to the room slowly creaked open as Sonic popped his head into the room. "Hey man, how is she doing? Any movement from her?" I shook my head and sighed. "I honestly don't know. The teacher seemed to imply she would have woken up by now but she hasn't stirred at all." I replied as Sonic came over, placing a hand on my shoulder. " It may be worth grabbing our bags and bits from the classroom." Sonic nodded and headed back out, gently closing the door. I looked down at Amy and noticed she was starting to shiver so I took off my jacket and draped that over her too and wemt to find a glass of water. When I came back over, I did a quick check over her bandages and saw on some, a few patches of blood were slowly starting to seep through. I added another layer of bandage over the top of the ones that needed it and kept the tension slightly tighter, but not too tight, it cut off the blood flow. 

Sonic came back into the room, showing off the bags as he came in the room. "Found it". I smiled at him, nodding my appreciation. Sonic came over and looked over Amy. " Any changes throughout the day?" I shook my head "No, none at all really. I have just added another layer of bandages over the worst injury but no improvment. Did I miss anything? " Sonic was still gazing over Amy as he replied, "Nothing as nearly as interesting as this morning. I would have been here sooner but I didn't want to have both new students gone the whole day and also I caught up with Knuckles when he arrived.... Shadow, .... I uh, I think shes too hot as shes sweating" I looked down and saw the sweat building up on her forehead but found she was still shivering under the blankets and sighed. I felt her forehead and said to Sonic "Sonic, get some sorted rag or tissue and put it under the cold tap and fast" I heard sonic run to the sink as I turned to Amy. Wait! That's it! Body heat helps, I jumped into bed with her and pulled her into my arms and held her as much as I could without hurting her. I pulled the blankets over her again as sonic came over with a cold rag and handed it to me. I placed it on her forehead. Sonic walked towards the door and picked up our bags bringing them over to the bed. He pulled out my water bottle and set it on the side beside the bed. I could feel amy gaining some warmth. "So, how long until she wakes up?" I looked down at Amy before looking up at sonic. I shrugged and said "I dunno, we may have to take her home with us if she don't wake up soon." Me and the guys lived together as we work together and it cuts down on rent. Our manager found us a place just before we started school. We sat in silence for a bit until sonic broke the silence asking "Shadow, how are we getting Amy home, you don't have your Chaos Emerald with you" I thought hard and them remembered "I have my bike, no way am I bringing her home on the bus. The media will find us and want to know who she is.... She may have powers but I don't want her to get involved with them" Sonic nodded. I looked at the time and sighed. I had to get home. I turned around to sonic and said "can you take my bag home?" he nodded. He picked up my bag and walked out the room. I slowly released Amy and placed her back onto the bed. I pulled my keys out of my pocket and wrapped Amy up completely in the blankets. I placed the water bottle on top of Amy's legs and slowly lifted her up into my arms. She snuggled into my chest fur and I realised that my jacket had fallen off her. I balanced her legs on my knee as I rested my foot on the bed as I picked my jacket up and laid it over Amy. I put my arm under her again and carried her out of the room. I'm honestly rather confused that no one came to see if Amy was okay, not even the teacher. I walked out of the school and headed towards my motorbike, I think Sonic had gone home as no one was in sight which was helpful. I slowly lifted my leg over the bike and sat down. I put Amy in front of me. This is going to be one fun ride. I put the keys in the ignition and slowly left school. The sky had turned grey and I became worried that it would rain. I pulled my jacket over her head and put my helmet on. The roads weren't too busy and I quickly set off driving.

I arrived home 20 minutes later to find Sonic at the door holding an umbrella. I hadn't realised that it started to rain. I took off my helmet as sonic made his way over to us. He held the umbrella over our heads as we made our way Into the house. I walked up stairs into my room. I didn't know if Amy had any family but if she did I would have found out tomorrow. I placed Amy in my bed under the covers and turned on the heated blanket. I left the blankets from the school in a pile to be washed by the door and gave once last check over Amy. I placed a cold rag back over her forehead and then turned off all lights apart from one of the bedside lamps.  I looked around my room and saw my bag on the chair at my computer. I placed my keys on my bed side cabinet and looked down at Amy. She finally looked at peace now she's asleep in a warmer bed. I made sure to set the timer to ensure the bed didn't stay warm for too long. 

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
