Maya P.O.V.

We see two figures running towards us. Soon there were way more then two

CRANKS

I put my hand on Catherine shoulder ''Come on we have to run let's go'' I said Pearl overheard and was already running. She wasn't the fastest runner but she could keep up with the group. We all start running once Minho and Thomas caught up we ran. The cranks were bolting after us we split up in two escalators that weren't working I was running up the escalator beside Pearl while Catherine was in front of us as I was running I looked at Teresa who was at the other one.

I saw an crank about to grab her I picked up an rock then threw it with all my might. Hitting the crank right in the shoulder causing it to fall off the escalator ''Come on Maya'' Pearl said now she was ahead I turned around to see the cranks following soon before I knew it one grabbed my arm. ''Maya'' Catherine shouted as she started going down but Winston stopped her. Winston then fired some bullets knocking the Cranks off of me Catherine put out an hand I grabbed it then we started running again.

We ran as glass broke until a crank attacked Newt. The crank was in top of Newt Thomas quickly kicked it off ''Thanks Tommy'' Newt said as whole crowd of cranks started charging towards us. ''We have to get out of here'' Frypan said as we entered the narrow hallway. There were a room with doors Thomas tried all the doors only one was mostly liked to open.

Winston started firing bullets holding the crank back. Frypan tried to get open the door within one try the door flung open. ''Come on let's go'' Minho said as we exited the room Winston was the last the Cranks grabbed him scratching his stomach by he was able to getaway ''you alright Winston?'' I asked he nodded slowly. I still was worried I wasn't good at being medical I was worried that he would turn or just give up.

We ran under a shelter where we all stayed quiet I was squeezed in between Catherine and Teresa.  We all were quiet and tried to get to sleep I couldn't. The sound of the cranks were enough to keep me awake as for my nightmares that haunt me each night.

After we woke up we continued walking Winston was barely moving I started to get really concerned about him. ''Hey M'' Pearl said as she walked next to me. ''Hey P'' I said plainly ''Do you really trust these guys?'' Pearl said gesturing to the group of guys. ''I trust Teresa and Aris also Winston saved my life so yes I trust them'' I said ''if you trust them i will too plus Newt is cute'' Pearl said. I rolled my eyes ''you're thinking about how he's cute when we're just attacked by cranks'' I said Pearl smiled it feels so long since I've seen her smile.

Pearl was always the positive one she kept everyone smiling even if it was we were trapped in a maze or out here in the sand where cranks want to kill us. It's a gift but it can be annoying sometimes you have to be negative or tired you can't always be happy I learned that from Julia. I turned around Teresa and Catherine were whispering to each other then Newt and Thomas were talking then Minho and Frypan was carrying Winston.

I sigh and kept walking we reached an shelter. I laid against one of the rocks next to Aris ''I'm sorry'' I whispered to Aris ''Why?'' He whispered back ''you were all alone back there you sat alone I should've h-'' before I could finish he cut me off. ''It's fine you asked before I denied and I wanted to be alone I didn't know who to trust'' Aris whispered ''Can you trust me?'' I asked. ''Yes I can trust you and Pearl and the other guys'' Aris said ''Catherine?'' I asked Aris shook his head before I could ask he turned away from me his back was to me so I decided to brush it off.

The next morning we all sat there in silence. Thomas was up on the hill looking at the mountains ''how long do you think  we have to go?'' Newt asked ''I hope not much farther'' i said. ''I'm going to go check up on him'' Teresa said as she got up and walked towards Thomas. ''Are they dating?'' Catherine asked ''Nah but it's okay to think that when Teresa showed up in that box apparently they had a connection'' Frypan said with a smile.

Teresa and Thomas? I felt this feeling I felt Jealously. I barely know her I know that she's tough, smart, beautiful, and kind and she's in group A she was the only girl. Why do I feel like I've known her longer then when I met her in the room It's like she was my friend before the maze or something. I decided to brush it off it's probably just me being stupid a few minutes past I was talking with Minho most of the time. Until a bullet was fired

Frypan shouted for Teresa and Thomas to get down here.

Winston

Thomas crouched down next to Winston ''Hey are you okay?'' He asked softly. Winston spit up this black stuff I clasped my hand over my mouth. ''Winston it's okay we'll get through this somehow'' I said Winston shook his head ''it's growing'' he said as he lifted his shirt. ''Please I don't want to turn'' He said as he reached for the gun but Frypan still held on to it. Newt grabbed the gun from Frypan handing the gun over to Winston ''Goodbye Winston'' Newt said softly as Newt left not saying another word.

One after one said Goodbyes what was left just Thomas and I. ''Thank you for saving my life back there I- im sorry I couldn't save yours'' I said softly I felt guilty. ''It's okay Maya'' Winston said ''Goodbye Winston'' I said sadly as I left leaving Thomas and Winston. I didn't know Winston that much but he saved my life and I will always remember that without him I'd be dead he didn't deserve the no one deserved this.

We all walked until we heard an gunshot everyone mind was on one thing one person...
