I am someone who works shift hours. The last shift ends at 10.30pm but i would normally stay back to do stock taking before going home. Once i reached my apartment, it would be past 12 midnight. I'm quite close to Mum so i would text her about my whereabouts.
One night, while waiting for the lift at the void deck, out of a sudden, i heard someone gave me the salam (peace greeting).
I was shocked to see an old lady standing behind me at that point of time. I returned back the peace greeting. She looked at me and smile but then.. the old lady just started laughing. Continuously laughing for no reason. The more she laughed, the creepier it gets. I began to feel very uneasy. I quickly got into the lift but luckily she didn't follow me back home.
Once i reached my house, i sat on the sofa in my living room and cried. I could not fathom what just happened to me. I kept on crying until it woke my mother up from her sleep. My Mum saw me crying and asked,
"Why are you crying? Did something happened?" she was worried about me
"Mum, earlier when i was waiting for the lift, there was an old lady there. I didn't notice her at first until she gave the salam. Truly i was shocked. I gave her back the salam (peace greeting) but then she started laughing, continuously.." i explained what happened.
My mother tried to calm me down and she told me to forget about it. Two days later, i worked the last shift again. This time, while on my way home, i kept on messaging my mother to fetch me at the void deck. I didn't have the guts to go home on my own.
It was raining heavily and i took a cab home. Since i had no umbrella with me, i told the driver that i want to alight near the sheltered area. If he stopped next to my block, i would get fully wet due to the heavy rain. So no choice, i alighted a bit further to avoid getting wet. But i think it was a good thing it rained that night. What happened was..
Once i alighted, i looked at my block and i was glad. I was so delighted to see my mother already waiting for me at the void deck.
"Mum!" i called out to her and wave.
My mother however ignored me. So i started to walk near the sheltered areas towards my block. While walking, i noticed that my mother didn't even move. The closer i got, i could see that she just sat there and she kept looking to the ground.
Suddenly, i saw my mother just come out of the lift! I stopped in my tracks for a while and looked back at the one i saw earlier and realized, there was no one there! Basically 'she' just vanished into thin air the moment my Mum came out of the lift!
I ran towards my Mum, kissed her hands and we walked home holding hands. I didn't tell Mum about 'the thing' trying to disturb me again by disguising as her. For a few weeks, my Mum had to accompany me home but not everyday. Only during the nights i had to work late. Till now, i don't have the guts to go home alone past 12 midnight.
Thanks.
