When I wake up I smile at the bright rays of sunshine shining into my room.  I looked over to the clock to see how much time I had before I had to be at school, but when i looked at the clock i realized i had slept two hours late.

"God Dammit!"  I jump out of bed and hurry to find some clothes and finally decide on black shirt and black skinny jeans with a red neck tie and put it loosely around my neck.  When i look in the mirror i adjust my shirt before nodding and grabbing my things.  Once I get in the car I drive as fast as I can to get to school.

I've missed first period.  Wonderful.

I run into the office to get a pass for being late.  The lady at the desk gives me a sympathetic smile.  "Late again, huh?" Frowning, I nod my head and take the pass before running again to get to my second period.

I knock on my Chemistry class's door while struggling to catch my breath and gather my things up correctly before Mr.Hampton opens the door.  When he opens the door I get a disapproving frown from him before he takes my pass and lets me into the classroom.  "Don't be again, Lester."  I nod and then walk in.

Trying not to focus on the eyes on me, I look towards the back of the classroom.  I soon met Dan's mahogany eyes that were filled with what looked like relief.  Seeing his face made my whole mood lift up, and I smile brightly at him before sitting down in the seat in front of him.

After waiting for me to get into my seat, Mr. Hampton starts his lesson about chemical equations and all that jazz.  I get out my notebook and start taking notes until I feel a tap on my shoulder.  Dan hands me the note when I turn around and smiles at me when I take it.

I thought you weren't going to be here today..

I smile before writing back.  I woke up late...again.

Checking to make sure the teacher isn't looking, I look up to see him sitting in his desk and decide its okay to hand the note to Dan.

Throughout the class I didn't get a response to the note so I focused on the lesson and took down the notes I needed to know to do well on the test.  The whole new school thing wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be, but I guess that's because I already had a new friend-..or should I say boyfriend?  Yeah, that's what Dan is.  My boyfriend.

My cheeks flushed as I thought about it, but my thoughts were suddenly put to a halt as I heard Mr. Hampton call out my name.  "Lester, are you too busy blushing and daydreaming to pay attention to my lesson?"  My eyes go wide and I look down to hide my face.  "I'm sorry, Mr. Hampton."  He nods and then turns back to the board.  I hear people snickering, and it just makes me want to be swallowed by the Earth.

When the bell rang I stood up to get my things before I was shoved back into my seat.  I look up to see who it is, and I see two heavy set guys standing in front of me laughing.  "Daydreaming about your boyfriend, Lester?"  They both laugh and look at each other.  "What a fag."  I feel my heart sink and start to feel tears in my eyes, but I push them down.  I can't let them see that they effect me.

Dan steps in front of them with a defensive look on his face.  "Why don't you guys stop being pricks and get to your next class?"  The guys look back at Dan with annoyed faces.  "What?  You protecting your little boyfriend here?"  Dan rolls his eyes and laughs a little. "Wow.  Good one. Bet you were up all night thinking of that one."

"Whatever dude.  Bye Fags."  The guys walk away, but Dan lets out one more remark before they're out of hearing range.  "Takes one to know one, asshole."

I frown before standing up and gathering my things when I feel a hand on my shoulder.  "Don't let them get to you, Phil.  They're brain dead and stupid."  I nod and start walking to my third period with Dan right beside me.  "You don't have to walk me to class anymore you know, Dan."  Dan looks at me and smiles.  "I know.  I just wanted to walk you here to spend more time with you that's all."
