Steve left with the Quinjet an hour prior, and T'Challa found himself on the edges of the city, taking in the scenery. He never grew tired of this beautiful place he was able to call home, but with his return came so much trouble in his mind. It clouded his thoughts and his rationale. He barely knew the woman, this Ophelia who seemed to have her hand on every heart of the lives affected by his anger-driven actions. He thought of how badly he wished to rip out Sergeant Barnes's throat, and he never stopped to think about what lives he might have ruined if he had.

If he had killed Barnes, what then would have happened to Ophelia? This woman he scarcely said a word to impacted everyone around her like a tidal wave, knocking everyone off their feet. If the tables were turned, how would Ophelia have responded to losing Barnes? It was too much for T'Challa to think about, how close he came to ruining so many lives.

How by stepping out of that HYDRA base in Siberia he had a hand in killing Ophelia.

She had begged him to help.

And he walked away.

"What troubles you, my king?" Okoye appeared in T'Challa's peripheral vision.

He sighed. "I do not think I am worthy of being a king; I was the catalyst to a death that I could have prevented."

"The girl?" Okoye sat down next to him.

He nodded, looking at his fiercest fighter and closest friend.

"It was not your fault. You did all you could," Okoye tried to convince him.

"I made impulsive decisions that got people hurt and got her killed. I tried to amend my mistakes by bringing her here, but I was too late. Had I been there, had I chosen to fight, she could have still been alive. I choose my battles poorly, my first mistake as King."

"We all make mistakes," Okoye told him. "It is how we reprimand them, how we repair them. You took in this soldier, gave him safety from the rest of the world. You will live with this guilt, and that is paying for your mistakes."

T'Challa looked at Okoye and offered a soft smile. "My initiation is in a few days. I would like Nakia to be there. In light of recent events, I wish for no more harm, no more distance between people we love."

"You will be an excellent king."
