"babe, everything okay?" he stared straight ahead. she snapped to get his attention. "gilly?" he looked over at her and sighed, reaching for the dashboard. she lifted her legs up to her chest, waiting for her boyfriend to reveal what he was hiding. "this came today." his voice had no emotion. "y-your letter from nyu? did you open it?" he shook his head in response. "i was waiting for you." they both let a deep breath out as she tore the letter open. bringing it to her face, due to being in the dark car, she read it to herself. "g-gil?" this could go one of two ways and he was expecting worst.
"you got in." she said with a shriek. "i-i got in?" she nodded and brought her boyfriend into a big hug. "you're coming to new york with me!" he held on tighter as he let a tear slip. anne pulled away, bringing her hands to his lovely face, wiping his tears and kissed him. just the other day, gilbert thought there would be no college for him but anne helped him. anne shirley-cuthbert. the girl he has loved since the first day she moved to avonlea. she saved him. he knew that she would always be there. "i couldn't have done it without you, anne." she tried to shrug it off. "anne, i'm serious. without you, i would be going nowhere in my life. you are my person and i love you so much. words don't even begin to describe." she let a tear slip and he caught it. "don't cry. now let's go out!" he yelled starting his car. before he drove away, anne gave him a kiss on the cheek and took his hand in hers. "i love you so very much."
