Chapter 10: Chaos in the Valley

Sorry for the wait- I've been slow in the writing process and my keyboard has been acting up. Enjoy this- next update might take a while.

"What's going on?" asked Claudia, peering over her shoulder and looking around for the Professor. "Why did he ask us to come?"

All of the X-Men had suited up upon hearing the Professor telling them to do so, and now they were all in the front hall.

All of the students- including Sariah- knew what it meant to suit up and meet in the front hall- all except Claudia.

"Don't you know?" asked Rogue. "Suit up means we're going on a mission."

"Really?" asked Claudia, her eyes wide. "Gee, this is great! My first mission!"

"There she goes," muttered Kitty as Claudia happily chattered away.

"Oh, cut her some slack," grinned Sariah. "This is my first mission with everyone else. Going off to recruit Claudia didn't count. I'm excited too."

"But you show it in a different, less annoying way," muttered Rogue.

"It's just how I am. Claud's excitable. I'm not."

"Everybody, in the jet," said the Professor, appearing in the doorway. "We have an urgent cause."

'What is it Prof?" asked Claudia eagerly.

"Cerebro has detected lots of mutant activity in the Utah Mountains," replied the Professor.

"And we're going there?" asked Sariah excitedly.

"Yes," said the Professor.

"Great! I love the mountains!"

Kurt gave Sariah a strange look.

"What?" Sariah asked. "I had a foster father who took me camping in the Idaho Mountains once. There's a lot of things you don't know about me, big bro."

"Well, little sis, I learn something new every day."

It had been over two weeks since Sariah had found out who her mother was, and word had somehow gotten out about Sariah's meeting with her mother- and no one minded who her mother was. They even thought it was cool who Sariah's siblings were- and yet, Sariah hadn't even thought about what the others would think.

"Well, siblings, let's focus on the mission," said Claudia.

"Well, I want to spend lots of time with my brother," said Sariah. "We have lots to catch up on."

"What about me?" Rogue asked.

"And you," said Sariah. "A mission is the perfect way."

"C'mon Luke and Leaia, in the jet," said Claudia, sticking her head in between Kurt and Sariah. "We have a mission to go on."

"The mountains are so beautiful," breathed Kurt.

"That's why I love them," smiled Sariah. She turned to Rogue. "And no, the mountains don't have snow in the summer- not usually."

"I didn't give you permission to read my mind," frowned Rogue.

"I love you too big sis," teased Sariah. "And by the way, you know I'm still getting the hang of it."

"And me and Sariah," smiled the Professor, "are working hard on it."

"So, where are we landing?" asked Scott. "We can't have others see us."

"Trust me," said the Professor. "Where we're landing, there's nobody left but the mutants."
