Chapter 3: Housemates

Sariah had finally felt like her face wasn't so red. Taking a deep breath, she followed the Professor inside. The mansion was quiet and Sariah knew that anyone who was awake had heard the door to the mansion close.

She looked around at the mansion. There was a gigantic staircase and a beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Everything thing looked beautiful and shiny. She had never seen such a beautiful place in all her life. The exterior of the mansion had been beautiful. If this was just the entrance hall, she was amazed to think of what the rest of the house looked like.

Almost immediately after the door closed, there was a puff of grey smoke and a furry blue creature with a tail similar to the devil's appeared in front of the Professor out of thin air.

Sariah screamed out in shock. He had appeared so suddenly she had been taken aback. She stared with wide eyes, shocked by what she was seeing. As if that blue woman hadn't been scary enough!

The blue creature, seeing Sariah's terror, fiddled with his watch. He suddenly transformed into a human boy.

"Want me to stay in my disguise until you're used to me?" he asked in a German accent.

"Then she would never get used to you," said the Prof, smiling.

"Just, uh, you know, don't do that again," mumbled Sarah. "You know, appear out of thin air."

"I'm going to have to during our Danger Room sessions," he said. "Teleporting- and combat- are my only powers. I don't use them- I get squished by something huge." He smacked his left hand down in the palm of his right hand. There was no loud smack noise.

"I may have a human's appearance, but if someone touches me they still feel fur," he smiled.

"How did you know I was thinking about that? Can you read minds?"

"Nah, that's the Prof's job."

"Don't read my mind please," said Sariah to the Professor. "I prefer my thoughts to be private."

"Of course," smiled the Prof.

Sariah turned back to the fuzzy boy. "Err, what's the Danger Room?"

"You'll find out," teased the fuzzy boy. "My name's Kurt," he added.

Sariah could hear an excited squeal and let out another yelp as a girl ran through the wall. She was about as tall as Sariah herself with brown hair pulled up. She looked like she was dressed for bed and not for greeting her new housemate.

Sariah had been caught so off guard she accidentally caused a vase to fly at the girl. The vase just went straight through the girl, causing Sariah to gape. Jean, who had been watching, stopped the vase and used her powers to gently put the vase back on the table it had been on only moments before.

"What? How?" she asked, staring at the brown haired girl with the ponytail.

"Everyone here has powers," she said, shrugging. "Mine is walking through walls and passing through objects. It's called phasing. Anyway, my name is Kitty and it is SO nice to meet you!" She pulled Sariah into a tight hug. She wished she could phase through Kitty. The Prof smiled.

"He isn't reading my mind, is he?" Sariah thought.

The Prof looked at Sariah and smiled.

"You said you wouldn't!"

The Prof gave Sariah an apologetic smile as Sariah was finally let go. She gasped for air in spite of herself.

The Professor gave Sariah a soft look that said, "I told you they were nice."
