Chapter 11: Mistakes and Vandals

Oh Vinnie DeJesu, you'll love this chapter. Yet I SORTA think you'll hate it. LOL, you tell ME what you think.

"I hate this cast!" groaned Sariah as she removed her sling and plopped down on her bed. Her blue cast included a bunch of signatures from the others, a few doodles Sariah had done, and some doodles the others had done. There were even little cartoons on there that Sariah would sometimes look at if she was feeling glum about her cast. She had done that a million times. She had seen enough of the comics, but yet, there she was, looking over them for the millionth time.

"Of all the things that had to happen when we met the MDG, it just HAD to be a broken arm. I'm gonna be so out of practice. No Danger room OR training for SIX WEEKS! I even miss Logan!" she continued to complain.

"Well, at least you only have one more week with it," said Jean.

"Yippee," muttered Sariah. "I just want to train again."

"Well, at least you have more time to work on your telepathy. That's important."

"I know. I just hating sitting around. Really, why didn't Animal Whisperer just set birds on me? That would've done less damage. I think she really likes a show."

"Would you have rather lost an eye to the birds or have a bone temporarily broken?"

"The bone, I guess," surrendered Sariah.

"That's what I thought," smiled Jean, "now come on, we're supposed to be getting ready to go school shopping. And that means getting out of our PJ's."

"OK," sighed Sariah. Smiling, Jean left her room.

Sariah, who had been limited to doing  almost nothing because of the broken arm she had acquired on a mission 2 and a half weeks ago, had not really bothered to do much- just stay in bed in her pajamas and try to read (which was actually pretty hard) or else sit up in bed and chat with Claudia or Jean. Whenever she had lessons with the Professor, however, she would change out of her pajamas and into proper clothes. She would usually just stay that way for the rest of the day.

The Professor had been kind about Sariah being lazy- after all, there wasn't much she could do (such as training or Danger Room sessions) and it made sense that Sariah would mope and be a bit lazy. But Sariah knew the Professor was just the slightest bit annoyed- and Sariah hadn't needed to read his mind to know this.

"I need to stop being so lazy," thought Sariah as she pulled on her shoes. Sighing, she put her sling back on and tried to comb her hair with one arm. Finally, she gave up and used her powers to make the comb run through her hair like she had been doing for the last 2 and a half weeks.

"Ready?" called Jean.

"Yeah," replied Sariah.

As Sariah shopped with the others, she had a telepathic conversation with Jean.

"Please don't cause any trouble at school," begged Jean.

"I never did." replied Sariah.

"So don't start, OK? The principal really hates mutants. And kids will see you hanging out with me and the others and figure you're a mutant. They'll tease you, and I know you have a temper. And think what you might accidentally do with your powers if you get angry? Especially with you just developing your telepathy. It could be dangerous."

"So I'm dangerous? Should I even be going to school then?"

"We may be speaking telepathically but I can still hear that sarcasm. And no, you're only a danger when you're mad."
