Chapter 14 - Breaking The News

Hunter's POV

A vampire?

No fucking way...

Well technically I have to drink blood first, which totally not going to happen, but still. Holy shit.

"Umm..." I turn to see Spencer still standing where he was before.

"Spencer I.. I don't know.. I'm so confused." I look at him for some sort of explanation.

"I couldn't tell you either Hunter." He says with a defeated look.

I sigh with everything inside of me.

"We have to tell the others." Spencer looks at me. I agree with him but that doesn't make me any less terrified.

"Okay." I say shakily. I let go of my dad's hand. Spencer grabs me in a warm embrace. I feel so safe with him. But Liam is my mate. I feel sparks with him. I only feel warmth from Spencer.

"Let's go." I say more confidently.

We walk down the hall to see everyone still asleep. Spencer begins waking up the others, so I go to wake up Liam.

"Hey." I said to my mate while lightly shaking him.

His eyes flutter open and I stare into his beautiful blue orbs through his thick sexy glasses.

"Morning my mate." He says graving me into a big embrace and kisses my nose. I giggle. Omg this boy is turning me into one of those mushy girls.

I bring him over to the other sleepy vampires.

"What's up Spencer?" Dallas asks rubbing his eyes.

Spencer looks at me. I walk over to him, Liam watching every step.

I sigh.

"Guys, Hunter has something to tell you guys." Spencer says.

All eyes on me.

Crap.

"Guys I'm a vampire." I say with my eyes glued to the ground.

All I hear is silence.

Spencer's POV

When she said it, everyone's eyes go wide and their mouths drop.

Fuck.

"What?" Luke asks.

"I'm a vampi.." Hunter starts, but was interrupted by Piper.

"We heard you, but how?" She asks.

"My mom was a vampire." Hunter replies.

"But isn't your dad human?" Zack asked.

Hunter nodded.

"Well if your dad is human his genetic traits take over your moms." Zack said with truth and understanding.

"Then why did my dad tell me I was?" She asks look for an answer.

"She's a Draca." Keeley says.

A what?

"A what?" Hunter says asking the same question I was thinking.

"A Draca. One who is born human, grows up human, but once has a taste of blood, becomes a vampire." Keeley says with a cold voice.

"How do you know what that is." I ask.

She looks at me. And in that moment, she doesn't look like the Keeley I've been around for the past two decades. She looks sad, lost, and broken.

"Because I was mated to one."

Hunter's POV

Shit just hit the fan.

I repeat. Shit. Just. Hit. The. Fan.

"Wait isn't Luke your mate?" Liam asks, finally speaking up.

"Yes." Keeley says.

"But how could you.. I mean, how is it possible that.. I'm just very lost." I say with little breath in my lungs.

"His name was Leo. I met him only a year after being turned. The year was 1946. He was human. I was so happy to find my mate. But I was confused. Humans can't be mates of vampires. But we didn't let it change anything. We wanted to be together so we were. But Leo wanted answers. So one night we went searching for answers. We found out he was a Draca. And we found out how I was mated to him. A Draca is born human, raised human. Father is human, mother is vampire. They are mated to a vampire. But once they taste blood for the first time, their mate bond breaks with the vampire." She says stoping to sob.

Luke grabs her to embrace her. She continues.

"Once their bond breaks a Draca, becomes no longer human, and becomes a vampire. Then they begin searching for their second mate." She was cut off.

"Second mate?" Spencer ask.

"Yes. A Draca has two mates. One in their human form, and one in their vampire form. Both mates are vampire. Of course their second mate is usually the one they spend the rest I their lives with." Keeley says with pain.

"I was Leo's first mate. At first we both agreed he'd never turn vampire so we could be mates, but things changed. I wasn't with Leo one night. A man captured Leo and force fed him blood. I felt the bond break. Once our bond broke I couldn't find him. I haven't seen him since. I searched years for him but couldn't find him. I finally met Luke and realized that I too got a second mate. And I couldn't have been happier." Keeley said looking at Luke with an adoring smile.

"I love you." Luke said kissing her.

"And I love you too." Keeley said.

"So that means?" Avery asked finally chiming in.

"Hunter is a Draca. Liam is her first mate. But once she tastes blood, he no longer will be." Keeley answers slowly.

Liam looks at me, and my heart breaks. One day we might no longer be mated.

"I will never drink blood!" I shout. Everyone looks taken aback by my outburst, but mostly pity is engraved in their faces.

Liam walks over to me and hugs me. I put my face in the crook of his neck. I want him to be my forever. I don't want anyone else.

"But the real question is, who's her other mate?" Dallas asked.

"I don't know, but I'm hoping we never find out." I say truthfully.

"You may not have a choice in that darling." A witty voice says from behind me.

We turn to see a guy no older than 20 standing in the doorframe. He walked to me and I get a better look at him. He was roughly 6"1 feet tall, Asian, with light brown hair, soft brown eyes, a dazzling smile, and was totally fine. He walked straight to me.

"Hello love, nice to meet you. What's your name?" He asked with a genuine tone. Both Liam and Spencer growled. Idiots.

"Hunter. And what is yours?" I ask being sceptic.

"Leo?" Keeley's voice cracks saying the name.

We all turn back to the tall, dark, handsome man.

"Yes love, it's me." He says with a sad smile.

Oh hot damn.

Well fuck.
