By the time the movie ended, Evan was fast asleep, hugging Jared's side tightly. A small smile was planted on his face, unmoving. Jared glanced at him with a bigger smile, running his hand through the sleeping boy's hair. He slowly pulled his body from Evan's grip, laying him down on the couch and pulling a blanket from the closet over him.

Jared would've stayed if he didn't have family at home who were probably wondering where he'd been. He left a note on the coffee table beside the couch, in hopes that Evan would read it.

To Evan,
I wish I could have stayed the night again, but I decided to go and check in with my parents. Sleep well, even if that couch of yours isn't the most comfortable. See you at school tomorrow.

From,
Jared.

He debated putting a heart at the end, but decided against it and just put a peace sign, which took him a minute and a half to draw correctly. Luckily, he wasn't a perfectionist, and he put the letter down on the table despite small scribbles at the bottom.

Soon, he left the house, driving off home and wishing he were still with Evan. He shrugged it off. He had his family to deal with, really, and he had been missing from the household for nearly two days.

His parents were glad he was home, knowing, if anything, he was with Evan. Soon, though, he was up in his room, hugging a pillow to his chest and quite honestly thinking of Evan. The boy who now plagued his life. He wasn't sure if he liked it or hated it.

Meanwhile, Evan was at home, his throat incredibly sore as he woke up. He yawned softly as he stretched and woke up a little more. Getting up, he went to get some medicine, desperately needing it, and that's when he felt as if the wind had been almost totally knocked out of him for the smallest moment. His lungs seemed to give out for a minute as he gasped for air before calming down and getting some painkillers. With this, he took two of them with a glass of water and sighed. It would be a while before the pills kicked in, and he didn't like that. He wished the stabbing pain in his throat—and now chest—would leave him alone.

The pain was honestly too much for even pills to help. Evan had to endure the sharp pains in his chest and throat as he wished that his body would give him mercy. And this plus his bloom was a lot. He hadn't ever felt anything like it. He wanted Jared there. He'd make sure he was okay.

Evan went outside, sighing and looking at the empty driveway. He was seriously worried about himself, for the first time in a while, but didn't want to bother anyone. Curse him and not having a car.

After a few minutes of contemplation, Evan finally called Jared, not knowing if he could take the pain of his chest any longer. He could be having a heart attack for all he knew (which wasn't the case, actually).

"What, are you attached to me already?" Jared answered in a snarky tone.

"Jare, no time for jokes. Can you drive me somewhere?" He asked, chest in great pain. He whimpered in the slightest.

"Are you okay, dude?" Jared asked, getting out of bed and starting to head downstairs. He mouthed that he was going somewhere to his parents and walked out.

"Fine." Evan mustered out, taking in a huge breath.

"You sure? I'm coming."

"Please hurry," Evan said and curled up against the door of his own house. Jared did hurry, not even bothering to put his seatbelt on. He hung up and nodded, stepping on the gas a little more. He still followed the laws, but he desperately wanted to make sure Evan was okay.

Eventually, and after what felt like forever, he got to Evan's house, seeing Evan leaning against his door and curled up in a ball. Jared got out of his car, incredibly worried.

"Evan, what's wrong?" He asked, trying to help him up.

"Can you take me to the hospital? I have to go to the hospital. My chest hurts really bad and it's getting hard to breathe." He whined, wheezing a little.

"Yeah, Evan, of course we can go to the hospital," Jared promised, bringing him to his car, "When did this start, Evan?" He let Evan sit in the passenger seat of his car and buckling him up.

"I had throat pains... yesterday, I think," Evan said, groaning.

"What about the not breathing well and chest pains?" Jared asked and sat in his own seat, driving toward the hospital.

"Today. I woke up and, I just, I couldn't-" Evan began to cough violently, clutching his chest, which throbbed even more now. Jared flinched and drove faster. He had never, ever seen Evan like this, and was concerned.

Within minutes, Jared was rushing over to the emergency room, dragging a half-conscious Evan with him and calling for help.

"He's going to go unconscious! Please help. He can hardly breathe as it is." He begged, some employees coming over and getting him on a stretcher just as he passed out for good. Jared was allowed to follow until they brought him into an immediate CT scan. He called out for Evan, but no hope. He was left to wait in the waiting room.

Almost an hour later, Jared was allowed to see Evan in his hospital room. He walked in, and already, Evan was hooked up to an oxygen machine. Evan was awake now and smiled softly at Jared as he entered.

"Hi," Evan muttered, voice scratchy and unclear to hear.

"Hey, Evan. What's up?" Jared sat beside Evan, clearly a bit worried.

"Nothing much. Just chillin' in this hospital bed." Evan chuckled weakly, smiling and going to take Jared's hand. Jared let him, grinning a little larger.

"Chest still hurt?" Jared asked.

"Yeah, they just did a CT scan on me. To see what was wrong. They said they think it's my lungs. I'm just glad I don't have heart problems." Evan revealed, sighing gently.

"Yeah, true. But let's just hope that everything is alright." Jared squeezed Evan's hand and grinned.

"Yeah." Evan bared his teeth in a gentle smile, aimed back at Jared.

Hours passed before the two were given test results from the CT scan. It took the doctors ages to figure out what was going on with Evan. They had their suspicions, but couldn't assume. They called in an expert from the field of study they needed, and it was that specialist who determined that it was what they were suspicious of.

Evan had fallen asleep, but Jared was determined to wait all day and night for the results. Even if this was so, he was extremely relieved when a doctor joined them in the small room. He woke Evan up and let him adjust to his surroundings before giving the doctor the OK.

"We're going to have to transfer Evan to a different hospital. One that can treat him well and correctly." The doctor explained, sighing.

"What exactly is he being treated for, Doctor?" Jared asked, getting more anxious by the second.

"Evan has contracted the Fleurine Virus for the second time."
