Chapter 6- blown out

"Wanna walk to school with me today?" Grayson asks with a smile.

"Depends, will you tell the same old joke. I've heard it about three thousand times now Gray."

He laughs his cute laugh. Over the past two weeks, me and Grayson have started hanging out more and we've really gotten to know each other. We'd be there if one of us were injured, or being teased. It was nice having a genuine friend.

"Knock knock."

"Who's there?"

"Britney Spears."

"Britney Spears who?" I ask.

"Knock knock."

"Ugh, who's there?" He turns to face me with a massive smile.

"OOPS I DID IT AGAIN!!" He yells down the street and although I've heard this joke every day for the past two weeks, I burst out laughing. We carry on singing the rest of the song all the way to school and only stop when I see Mr Jackson.

Although I've been begging for a class change, I haven't been given one. They say my excuse isn't reasonable because 'I'm not comfortable in my learning environment' is not worth the effort. So, I've decided to make my grades drop slightly in hope that it will lead to the school knowing that it's harming my education, mentally and physically.

"Hey Katie, are you not coming in?" Grayson asks curiously. No, he doesn't know about what's happened but I'm not sure I want him to know. He may go crazy or not believe me at all.

"I think I'll go round the back entrance." He turns to face me.

"I'll come with you then, it's a little weird back there."

Grayson's been here for three weeks now but he knows the school better than the majority of the people here. I sneak around a lot and I used to find weird, but cool places to hide at lunch or in general when I got bored of basic education. Now, I've shown Grayson everywhere, we both explore the school to see if we can find anymore hidden spots. We've found three so far.

"So why have we been going this way recently?" He asks.

"No reason." I shrug. Okay there are quite a few but I'm not allowing him to know right now.

"Are you sure? I think there's a reason Miss Katherin."

"Nope, just bored of the front entrance."

"You do realise that it's closer to registration and your first lesson when we go through the front right?"

"Can you just drop it please Grayson." I stop walking and so does he. He turns to face me and raises his hands in defence.

"Just got curious." He shrugs and keeps walking.

Ugh Math. All Mr Jackson has wanted to do this week is keep me behind for detention, but, I keep thinking of excuses.

"Sorry sir I have a tutor and we can't change the date."

"My mum's feeling unwell."

"I need the toilet, I'm on my period." That'll stop him from trying to put his hands all over me.

"I can't come today, I have coursework due tomorrow and I still have some left.

"I have another detention to go to."

Only problem for today? I can't think of another excuse. I can't get out of a potential detention today. I walk into class reluctantly and already his eyes are looking me up and down.
