Chapter 12- Gray-baby

I've come to the conclusion, that I'm very, very high. Okay, metaphorically high as I haven't taken any drugs. Make sense? Yeah, I know it doesn't.

You see, I've come to that conclusion because I'm seeing something that isn't a reality, I'm having really strong, let's call them... visions.

So these visions, the things giving me a headache, because I'm trying to figure out where they're coming from. They don't even feel like deja vu to be completely honest with you. I feel like I'm living some sort of reality that nobody else knows about.

And that is exactly why.....

I think I'm high.

--------------------------

A few weeks later....

--------------------------

"Katherin Mitchell! Why are you not awake yet?" My mum practically demands, waking me up from a good dream.

"Just give me five more minutes." I groan, putting a pillow on my face.

"Katie...get up. We're going shopping."

"Whyyy?" I whine.

"Because it's your birthday next week and I'm making sure you look good." My mum argues. I sit up, and look her in the eye.

"I haven't celebrated my birthday since Dad died, why am I going to start now?"

"Because, we have a guest. I'm not allowing him to think we're a depressing household."

I get up out of my bed, grab a towel and before I walk out of the room to go to the bathroom, I look at my mum.

"Yeah, sure. We'll fake it for a day, you know because he hasn't seen me in the hospital twice. He hasn't witnessed me being harassed by a member of the school, he hasn't seen a teacher abuse me." I take a deep breath. "Sure mum, let's fake it for a day."

With that, I walk out, leaving my mum standing speechless.

....about 45 minutes later....

I wrap the towel over me and make my way to my room.

"Wow Katie, look at you." He smirks.

"Piss off Gray." I eye roll.

"Hey, you sure about that? Cause I could just-" I slap his hand away from my towel.

"Touch me and you're dead." I state. "What's with the perviness today?"

"Just seeing someone I like. Just being friendly."

"Stop being 'friendly'" I air quote with one hand, whilst the other keeps my towel up.

---------------

"A little bird told me it's your birthday in 4 days."

"Really Grayson? Never would've known." I smirk.

"What are you going to do?"

"Well I mean, I'm not sure to be completely honest with you." I shrug, as we sit on the bench just outside. "It's just my eighteenth."

"Just your eighteenth" He repeats sarcastically. We sit there watching the basketball game going on. He moves in closer to me, placing his hand on mine. "What do you want to do for it Kate?"

"Yeah, what do you want to do for your birthday, bestie?"

Ugh, shoot me.

"Hi Kelsey, how are you?"

"I'm great, thanks for asking." She gestures for me and Grayson to split, so we do. "Hey Grayson, what you guys talking about?"

"Not you." He mutters.

"What was that baby?"

"Nothing...wait, what did you call me?" He questions, looking more puzzled than he's ever been.

"Yeah, what did you call him?" I repeat.

She pushes her heel into my toe. "Nothing."
Not painful at all...

"Uh huh, so what do you want Kelsey?" Straight to the point, I like it.

"Just asking if you'd like to join me on Wednesday next week for studying, cause exams are coming up."

"Wednesday's my birthday, Kelsey."

She glares at me. "So? Like your birthday is more important than Gray-baby's grades."

I shoot Grayson a look for him to come to my defence...he shrugs.

"Hey, I didn't agree to that nickname." Grayson defends.

I'm getting nowhere with this boy.

"Look, you know what? Do whatever you want. Enjoy each other." I get up and leave, taking my bags and walking towards the school gates.

Didn't even have to look back, because I could already hear them kissing.
