*3rd person POV*
Love was like falling down, you were always, ALWAYS left hurt.
Paige's eyes focused on Cristiano, thinking of an excuse out of what she had said earlier. She didn't mean to say it, it just came out. Does she really feel for him? Oh yes. Does she want to be with him?
No.
Why no? Because that would mean he won. Her heart beat's regular pace sped up, and thanks to the heart monitor, it was obvious. Cristiano couldn't help but hurt for Paige, she looked helpless as ever in the hospital bed, pale and weak.
"How do you feel?" He asked, trying to not make direct eye contact. He felt as if the whole thing was his fault, and that if it wasn't for him teasing Jonas, he wouldn't have gone crazy, Paige would be safe in his house, and everything would be like how it has been for the past few months.
"Cristiano." She spoke softly, looking towards him with red eyes. "I'm so sorry. He was my friend, and I shouldn't of let him come down here in the first place." Her voice was shaking. "Please don't be mad at me."
He grabbed her hand and gave it a little squeeze. "That bullet, could have been in me." He pointed to her shoulder and back at himself. "Don't think so stupidly."
She smiled softly and moved her hand out of his, her face was serious. She didn't want to bring up anything about her having feelings for him, hopefully he forgot. The pressure in her chest grew heavier, making it hard for her to breathe. "Did you mean it?" She whispered to him.
He looked up at her and studied her expressionless face. "Mean what?" Her eyes narrowed at him and she rolled her eyes, "The article. I'm nothing to you?"
He snarled at her, hating the fact that she had to bring this subject up again. He hated himself for saying what he said, and never wanted to hear about it again. "Of course not."
"Then why did you say it?" Her tone was icy, matching her eyes. She clenched her jaw together. She needed answers. If she was a burdern to him, she wanted to know for sure.
He sighed deeply and looked at her face, praying that another fight will not break out. "You can't handle the paparazzi, I didn't want them slandering you're name. They were already calling me a man whore, imagine what bullshit they could be saying about you."
Her face grew dark. "That's why you said all that? They were calling you a man whore?"
"No! I was protecting you! Maybe, just maybe they will leave you alone." He shot a look to her, "Don't make me look like the bad guy here."
"And I am!?" She shot back, sitting up in her bed. "Every since I got here, I haven't gotten any respect from you, Cristiano!"
Marcelo walked in with some yogurt and a chocolate bar in his hand. "Treats are here!" He sang.
"Get out, Marcelo!" They yelled in unison. He grumbled under his breath and backed out of the room. They were just like a married couple, they need to just admit their feelings and be on their way. Of course, Marcelo didn't want to interfere with their "relationship." or whatever they had.
"Paige, please. I'm sorry I didn't treat you right. I guess that's just who I am when it comes to you." She scoffed and turned her head, "Yeah, but any other hooker you find in the club will be treated like a princess by you." She mumbled.
He growled at her and stood up. "Who do you think you are!?" He pointed his finger in her face and yelled.
"Paige Lee Lazaro. The only girl who ever stood up to you, and didn't take your shit." She seethed.
