"Why the hell is it so hot today?" Woojin huffed.

"Why do you think? It's summer, the hottest time of the year." Jaehwan explained simply.

"I can't believe I keep on skipping out on extra sleep for this. It's too hot that it feels like my brain is going to melt." You joined in with Woojin.

"Hey we didn't drag you out of bed, Y/n. You wanted to hang out with us." Sungwoon scoffed.

"Because you can't stay away from us. You must really love us," Daehwi laughed.

"I can't believe you guys..." They could be so frustrating sometimes.

"You don't have to believe in us, Y/n. Because we're completely real," said Daniel, who pinched your cheek softly.

"Completely dense is more like it." you remarked snarkily. "So what did you guys plan?"

"Here they are!" Jinyoung and Jihoon came running out of the building entrance, carrying buckets of water balloons.

"Hey Y/n, I hope you like playing with water." Minhyun giggled softly.

"Wait a second now-" your eyes widened in realization of what was bound to happen.

"You guys better get ready to lose," Daniel said snarkily.

"MAKE TEAMS!" they all shouted in unison. Immediately they split themselves into 2 groups on their own. The first team was made up of Jihoon, Jinyoung, Woojin, Daehwi, and Guanlin. Jisung, Sungwoon, Minhyun, Seongwoo, Jaehwan, and Daniel were the other team. Watching them already know who they wanted to team up with was pretty funny because they didn't need any other instruction.

"It's hyungs versus dongsaengs, Y/n," Jinyoung explained. "So you have to join our team to make it even!"

Realizing what Jinyoung said was true, you quickly walked over to the younger team's side. "I'm glad you're on our team, Y/n." Jihoon whispered in your ear, "We can finally have a fair game."

It wasn't until you looked over to at the other team and saw Sungwoon and Jisung splash water ballons at each other for fun that you realized you weren't exactly wearing the thickest shirt. Before looking down at your t-shirt to check that nothing would go wrong, you prayed that you put on at least a black shirt to hide your body if you got hit with water.

And so when you looked down at yourself and saw that you were wearing a dark charcoal colored shirt, you thanked the gods up in heaven.

"You guys ready? Let's go!" You shouted. And so a war begun. A war of summer heat against water and eleven playful boys with Y/n.

The first balloon was flung at Guanlin, who was so shocked at the feeling of cold water that he screamed. For revenge, you threw a couple of balloons at Sungwoon and Daniel. "What did I do to deserve this treatment?," Sungwoon cried out sarcastically.

You were able to avoid the first balloons flung at you with skill but when Minhyun threw one with pin-point accuracy, you suddenly felt the cold water hit your skin that you jumped from the feeling as well. The water balloon was a pleasant surprise that you were grateful for within this summer heat.

But as soon as you were hit, you smiled widely. Time passed by so quickly as all twelve of you were throwing water at each other happily.

Using your peripherals, you could see Woojin and Jihoon planning something together. It looked like they were busy using the hose to fill an entire bucket of water. And as you focused on them instead of the other team, you realized what a risk they were taking as they started hurling themselves toward the other team both holding one end of the bucket. They were both hit as direct targets but they truly were the last ones laughing when Seongwoo, Jaehwan, and Sungwoon were all submerged with water.

Guanlin started to laugh like crazy when Seongwoo started cursing the sausage duo. "Yah! Don't bully your hyungs.. that much." But it was hard to keep yourself from laughing either.

But because of the pink sausage duo, they had started a trend of foul play including more buckets and hoses.

After about an hour and a half, mostly everyone was tired out. Well, except for Guanlin, that kid apparently never ran out of energy.

"GuAnLin!" you yelled tiredly to gain the gummy smile kid's attention. Immediately he turned towards you, happy that you called for his name and not his hyungs.

"wHaT?!" he mimicked your tone jokingly.

"Can you go with me to buy ice cream? Our clothes are already drying from the freaking hot sun so we need more than water to keep me from dying outside here."

"But I don't have any money to buy ice cream Y/n..." the poor kid frowned.

That of course didn't stop you. And wasn't even the point of asking him to go with you. He wasn't even tired unlike the rest of your group who were tired out from playing. And you needed an energizer like him right now. "Not a problem― I'm paying for it. And you can pick out the kind you want since you're coming with me."

"Really!? Thanks Y/n."

"What're you taking Guanlin for?" whined Jinyoung.

"Yeah no fair Y/n." complained Woojin.

"If you want someone to walk with you there I'm obviously the more charming choice." Seongwoo remarked with a cocky tone.

"Sucks to be you guys then," Guanlin smirked and then proceeded to stick out his tongue.

"Wait! Can I go too please?" pleaded Jihoon.

"Well since you asked so nicely, of course you can!" you said cheerfully. You worried Guanlin might be annoyed that it wasn't just you two anymore but to your surprise, he didn't mind. In fact, he looked rather pleased to be going with the two of you.

The others only seemed a little bit jealous of Guanlin and Jihoon but you only laughed it off. It would be too much work to bring everyone, and you would be back soon, so it should be okay.

So as the three of you started walking together down the sidewalk's pavement, Guanlin and Jihoon asked you about where you were going to school after summer ended. This caused you to frown because you knew you were only going to be here for one summer. "I.. I'm not staying here.."

They were silent for a few moments until Guanlin let out a small, disappointed "oh" but other than that, the rest of the walk to get the ice cream was quiet.

But once you reached the convenience store, you smiled. It wasn't worth being sad for the sake of your friends' summer. "Look, I'm sorry guys. I'll explain it to everyone when we get back."

They nodded their heads in agreement and tried not to focus on your enevitable departure. There was still some summer left.
