"Falcon's diary Alice, are you sure that is Falcon's diary?" Alik asked me not quite believing me.

"Positive, I don't know how but I recognize her handwriting even if I have never seen it before, but it somehow seems familiar as if it had her essence in it as mental as it sounds," I told him.

"No, it's not I get you. I understand what you're saying; sometimes when I grab things I can tell who they belonged to, it's a vampire quality." Alik said.

"A vampire quality, what exactly is that?" I asked him confused.

"Honestly Alice you really didn't think that as a vampire all you could do was run fast, be stronger, heal faster and drink blood, did you? We have some powers or talents whatever you want to call them, all you have to do would be practice getting better at it." Alik told me.

I started at him, I was certainly sure that I had the biggest question mark plastered on my face because didn't know what he was going on about.

"You should probably know that until a few months ago I had no idea that I was a vampire, I'm still new at all of this," I told him.

Alik nodded.

"That explains a lot, you're not using all of your vampire abilities but lucky for you I'm quite a master of that myself, I have been practicing since I was little, and I could probably help you with being a better vampire, which reminds me I'll need your red gem and locket," Alik told me as he placed his palm out so I could hand them to him.

My hand immediately flew to my chest where underneath my shirt I had them.

"Why? Why would you want them for?" I asked him.

"If in the Academy they see you with a red gem they'll know that you're a vampire and if they open the locket they'll see you with another family member that's not my aunt Eva. Whose picture do you have in the locket?" Alik asked me.

"A picture of my mum, my real mum and I, it was taken just a few days after I was born," I told him.

"With more reason I have to take them away from you, we can't risk the others knowing about you especially now," Alik told me.

I met his gaze, he was right but still.

"But I've never taken them off in my entire life, not for that long," I told him, the sadness already creeping up my voice.

Alik gave a sigh.

"Alright you can keep your locket, but you'll have to hide it, you won't be able to wear it, but I'll have to take away your red gem," Alik told me.

"But what am I going to do without my gem; if I step outside to the sunlight won't I burst into flames?" I asked.

Alik chuckled.

"That's why you'll use this," Alik said holding up a ring before he dropped it to my hand.

The ring was quite simple a silver band with a round-oval shape transparent with white stone.

"What is this?" I asked him.

"Ice stone, this stone prevents you from bursting into flames if you're in the sunlight, but it doesn't suppress your vampire abilities," Alik told me.

"Why haven't I heard about this before?" I asked him.

"That's because hunters don't know about their existence which is why this is safer to wear than the red gem," Alik said.

I nodded and placed the ring on my right hand on my index finger and then I took off my locket and the red gem.

"You'll take good care of it? After all this is one of the few things I have left from my mum, my real mum." I told him as I dropped the red gem to his palm.
