XXIX. Back In Action

Benta was planning the best class trip for everyone in the Yellow Rank. He still couldn't believe that he was the president. People actually voted for him to lead which gave him the determination to not let anyone down.

Over the past two months, he's been going a great job being a leader. Of course he still had Tanner, his old rival but now Vice President, helping out, but Benta felt great that he was doing all of this without much help.

He signed a few more paper and heard a knock at the door. Tanner walked in. "Hey Benta, the principal wants to see you." He said with a bit of a worried face.

"What? Why? Is something wrong?"

"I'm not sure, but when she asked me to go find you, she didn't look so happy."

Benta didn't like the sound of that.

Benta slowly opened to Principal Walker's office. "You called for me ma'am?"

Principal Walker turned to face Benta and took a seat. "Yes. I think you should take a seat."

Benta did. He was starting to sweat a little. Despite Principal Walker being one of the most amazing adults Benta has met in his life, she had a scary serious side to her. "Am I in trouble?"

She sighed. "For the past two months Benta, your Duel Scores have been very low. Your losing streak has been almost twenty in a row."

Benta looked down. He didn't agrue. She was right. Duels have not been going his way lately and he didn't understand why. He had a powerful deck that can give anyone a challenge, but he always seemed to lose. "You're right. I haven't been doing my best lately, but I promise you that I'll do better."

"I'm sure of that. I believe you, but Benta, you're on the verge of near-expulsion."

"What?"

"The school board and I have issued one last duel for you and other students who are in the same situation."

"W-what are you saying? I have to duel someone?"

"Benta, the Yellow Class respects you and with the Battle of the Academies coming in another week, I'm almost positive that they're going to vote for you to represent them, but here's the thing. You cannot afford to lose again."

"Principal Walker, I'm not following."

"You need to win this duel we've issued tomorrow to be able to join us again next school year, but-" Walker's voice died a little. She never liked to tell this type of news to any of her students. "If you lose-"

"I can't attend DHA anymore." Benta told Tammi and Yuko while sitting on Yuko's roof. They were both shocked to hear the news.

"That's crazy!!" Yuko said. "They can't do that! Can they?"

"They do this every year. Because our school's really popular, they always get new students and the only way to make room is to-" Tammi began.

"Kick out the weak." Benta said almost believing in himself that he was a bad duelist.

"You're not weak Benta!!" Yuko kicked a piece of wood. He was obviously infuriated.

"Remember when I was controlled by Diron not too long ago? He was able to that because I didn't want to be weak anymore." Benta said. He felt bad for having Diron control him like a puppet and hurt so many other students then to have Yuko clean up his mess. "I'm not sure if I can win tomorrow. Whoever my opponent is, they'll wipe the floor with me."
