jungkook wakes up to the sound of water, the feel of cool breeze touching his skin, and the sound of rustling leaves that comes from his right.

he sits up with wide eyes, realizing that the hard surface he was laying at definitely didn't feel like his bed.

he looks around, hands twitching for a gun that isn't there, before everything from last night came back and he groans, covering his face with his hands.

"you look like you're experiencing a hangover because your high school girlfriend just dumped you at prom and you got your ass wasted because of it."

he looks at the owner of the voice, seeing lisa, right hand carrying a basket while the other is holding branch.

"you got all that by haring me groan and seeing me cover my face in frustration?"

she shrugs, placing the basket down and sitting next to it.

"you'd be surprised by my ability to read people, baby face."

jungkook frowns at the nickname, before looking away and directing his attention to the waterfall.

"why'd you bring me here?" he asks, "you could've just left me once we got out of the house."

"but why did you follow me then?" she retorts, and jungkook rolls his eyes at the tone of her voice.

"your grip on my arm wasn't exactly gentle."

"youre a cop, pretty sure you'd be able to shake me off if you wanted to."

jungkook opens his mouth, but closes it when nothing came up. he crosses his arms.

he hears a chuckle, "speaking of being a cop, why weren't you acting like one last night? you have the authority to do something to those people."

jungkook laughs breathlessly, "yeah i was pretty dumb, wasnt i?"

"I can tell theres something more to it," he sees her shrug at the corner of his eyes. "but you dont have to tell me. its none of my business."

he feels himself nod,

then he takes a deep breath.

"i never wanted to be a cop. or to be related to crimes." he confesses. "and i dunno, i just."

he shakss his head, "if im not at the station or something i just want to forget it, you know? like sometimes i just wanna forget that i took this path, and be dumb, and be scared, and not be the detective jeon jungkook that everyone is proud of.

and i even lie to myself about it you know? its pathetic and crazy. i keep making excuses in my head, like oh i forgot my badge and gun, though i know i did it on pupose and think shit like oh no i cant act, its against the law though im positive that its not and-"

he is out of breath now, and his hands are fisted.

"i appreaciate it, i do, and i am happy but--"

"just not the way you want to be."

lisa cuts him off, and he furrows his brows at her and watched her shrug.

"I know the feeling."

he frowns.

"you dont seem like the type to do something she doesnt want."

then he hears her laugh; loud and obnoxious and forced.

"i dont, do i?"

they meet silence for a moment, and jungkook keeps her eyes at her, damn getting caught.

he just couldnt figure her out, and it is driving him nuts.

he goes back to reality though when lisa suddenly stands up and dusts off her clothes.

"we gotta go now," she says. "my people are probably going insane and youre probably worrying yours so."

he doesn't answer, and instead quietly, obediently followed her.

when they are finally at a familiar road though, and the girl goes the other way without another word, jungkook felt like she took a part of him with her.
