May 6 Prompt ~ Spoken/Unspoken (alt. Memory)
A/N: I put together for the SaiChi prompt a quick thing so it's short and not as good as it could've been as exams are approaching so I have to study, but I hope you enjoy reading this anyway!

Saito had trouble expressing his feelings, he had hidden them for so long it was difficult to break the habit. Granted it was quite ingrained into his nature and his personality now that no matter how hard he tried, there was always a piece of him that was stubborn and wouldn't let go emotionless face. He had tried to keep it before as he thought this was something he had to do as part of his Samurai training, but then of course, Chizuru had made him see differently. Now he would feel often that a smile was on his lips, but there were still times when it was Chizuru's task to work out what he was feeling from his small display of emotions, rather than words which often escaped him. He admired that she was so well able to understand him and be able to put up with his ways. Sometimes she would surprise him as she would understand him under his flush of words and rigid acts. This was quiet a relief. At times when he was clear and straight to the point as he was sharing conversation, somehow on occasions that would make her blush or smile. He loved seeing all these reactions from her. It was a joy to him.
"Hajime!" Saito heard Chizuru call him from the kitchen. Perhaps she needed some help with preparing some food. Often it was Chizuru who made the food as he was often held back from being busy with his job, but sometimes, however, he'd help her or take on the task of making dinner when he felt that she needed a break and rest. Picking himself up, he followed the sweet voice and came to her assistance. "Would you please chop these vegetables while I prepare the rice?"
He gave a short nod and went straight too it. He loved these little moments together. They both full well knew that Chizuru would be able to manage to do both, although it might take a little longer, but it was a joy that she would rely on him. He didn't mind helping as it made the job much more efficient and it was a good excuse to spend more time with Chizuru. This was a relaxing event for him. They worked well together and soon they both had the rice cooking and the chopped veg cooking in a pan. "Thank you, Hajime." Chizuru beamed up at him.
"No, it was my pleasure. Chizuru, I..." Saito smiled back, returning easily the smile. He grabbed hold of Chizuru's hands, something inside him felt like he should make that move. He held them for a while, bringing up the courage to try and make the next move. The stew was still cooking in the stove, bubbling away, but oddly he felt he wanted to show her an affectionate gesture and, in this moment, he didn't care. He wanted to utter the words that he loved her, however every time he could feel that he was going red and stopped in his path to try to compose himself. This time was no exception, he could feel the colour raise in his cheeks and that his embarrassment only increasing. Instead he could only manage to squeeze Chizuru's hand and hold it close, hoping somehow his feelings would get through to her. Although Chizuru was the one most likely slightly confused by his actions, she soon made him turn red as he felt a kiss suddenly planted on his cheek. His hand immediately loosened from the shock and Chizuru went back to the cooking, leaving him quite flabbergasted, but he was glad that some of his feelings must've gotten through.
