Leave a "Join Me" inmy askbox, and I'll write a drabble about one character (Saito) giving another character (Hijikata)an offer [be it a proposal for an alliance, asking them to join them in anactivity, feel free to specify.]

"Vice Commander, I insist you must rest." Saito urged, worrying that the Vice Commander was pushing himself too hard. "People are starting to get worried about you."

"Ahh, its fine. This is just what I have to do. It's part of my job." Hijikata sighed, knowing full well he was overdue for having a break from his work, yet he still wanted to persist. There was still plenty of work to be done.

"But, Vice-"

"Saito, it's not even evening yet. I can hardly take a break now."

"Yet you have been working non-stop from dawn." Saito replies, voice still full of concern. He knew that as he had seen the Vice Commander awake after he had returned from night patrol, even when he came back to give reports to the Vice Commander did Saito see Hijikata-san scribbling away at documents. Saito racked his brain for a solution which might get the Hijikata-san to rest, even if it would be something that only latest for a few minutes. "Vice Commander, perhaps, I might suggest you join me to meditate for a few moments. I advise you take some sort of break to refresh the mind. This way works very well for me and brings my mind to peace."

"Well...if you wish to do that here, go ahead, I shall continue writing here." Hijikata sighed, knowing full well what Saito was trying to achieve.

"It is not good to work without breaks, Vice Commander. This is only a short activity and I believe this would help you greatly!" Saito quickly explained what he meant by that offer. As the Vice Commander shot him a quick look, Saito started to have doubts about suggesting such a thing. Perhaps he should let the Vice Commander continue his work, or perhaps should he bring in some tea instead?

"Wouldn't that be the same as sitting in silence for a few moments, Saito? No point in delaying work that has to be done."

"Very well then, if that's what you want. Meditating isn't for everyone." Saito sighed, accepting defeat. He wouldn't push the Vice Commander any further than this and it was clear it was against the idea.

"Saito, that's not what I-"

"No, Vice Commander. It's fine." Saito quickly interrupts him. "I wouldn't want you to force yourself on my account."

Hijikata put down his pen, in this situation he was surely the bad guy. Here Saito was looking out for him, worried about him working non-stop, yet he was rejecting his offer of something which might rest his mind slightly. This was an opportunity to come closer to Saito after all and it was rare that he would ask anything like this of him, so perhaps it would be better to accept Saito's offer. "Well...I suppose I could give it a go."

"Vice Commander, are you sure? If you really believe it won't be beneficial for you, then like I said, you shouldn't force yourself to do it."

"I won't know until I try, but only for a few minutes though, Saito." Hijikata huffed, now facing the Captain.

Saito moved uneasily, it seemed that now the Vice Commander was listening to him and willing to try his suggestion, he didn't think that the Vice Commander would actually end up agreeing to it. Internally, he prepared himself for giving instruction of on how they should now go about this activity, but now he was nervous that he had gotten the Vice Commander into a pointless activity. It worked for him, but perhaps it wouldn't do after all...

"Hurry up, Saito. Tell me what to do. I'm listening." Hijikata instructed, interrupting Saito's train of thought.

"Ah, yes!" Saito quickly replied. Perhaps there was no point in worrying now. He had come this far after all. Saito cleared his throat and then he started to explain what he'd normally do in his meditation so that the Vice Commander would know what he had to do when they started to meditate.
