I slid out of the front seat when Liz pulled up in front of my house. Keith had his own car and had gone his own way, he wanted to drive me home but my friends insisted that my parents would be opposed. They must really not like my boyfriend.

"See you tomorrow, Charly." Liz said as I started walking towards the porch. I turned around and I gave them all a brief wave.

"Looking forward to it," I said sarcastically under my breath.

When I came inside, I didn't see anyone in the front entrance.

"Hello?" I called through the house.

"Charly! Hi honey, in the living room!" My mothers' voice called. I slowly walked into the living room from the entrance. My mother was laying on the long floral couch.

"Hi," I said.

"Hi sweetie. Ugh, boy am I wiped out. I just wore myself out working out." She replied.

"Oh. Would you like me to get you some water?" I asked her.

"No, that's alright. I've got some." She said showing me the glass of water that was sitting on the table by the couch.

"Where's dad?" I asked.

"He's at the office. Oh, I guess you don't remember. Your dad is a vet. He helps sick animals." She replied. I laughed.

"Mom, I lost my memory not my common sense." I said. "I know what a vet is." She laughed with me and there were dots of tears in her eyes. "What is it?"

"Oh, nothing. It's just good to hear you call me mom again." She said through her tears of joy. "It's been so long since I'ver heard it." I smiled lightly and took a seat on the edge of the couch. "So, how was your first day back?"

"Good." I lied. "Everything seems so strange. Can I ask you a question?"

"Shoot."

"Why don't you like my boyfriend?" I asked her curiously. "Keith?"

"Oh honey, we can talk about that in time. You don't want to hear about that."

"No, I want to know." I said softly. "Please?" She sighed and sat up straight.

"Come here," She said opening her arm for me to sit next to her. I got up and I took a place next to her. It felt right and safe sitting next to her as her arm wrapped around my shoulders. "Well Charly when you first started going out with Keith, your father and I didn't have that big of a problem with him. He was nice, seemed like a decent young man."

"So then, what happened?" I questioned.

"Well, you started missing your curfew, you started shutting yourself up in your room, you started lying to us about where you were going, and this was only your freshman year of high school. We were worried. We tried to tell you that you couldn't see him anymore but you would sneak out at night to meet him places. And then we got a call from the police one night. They had found you in the back of a van. With Keith, Liz and another guy. You were in the back with Keith, fooling around." I stared up at her as she was telling me the story. I noticed she hadn't been able to look into my eyes. Maybe she was scared I would remember it, but still I didn't remember anything.

She explained to me that we had been hauled into the station. The guy Liz had lost her virginity to was some guy in college that had a van to drive us around places. She had met him in the library, or that was the story that she told at least. I had told my parents that I had lost my virginity to Keith when they demanded an answer. She started telling me how heartbroken she and my father were and they forbade me from seeing him anymore. But it didn't stop us from seeing each other at school. I ignored their wishes and I kept going out with him.
