"Mom? Who was that?" Aria frowned, exiting the living room to see her mother in the hall, holding a bouquet of flowers with tears welling in her eyes. People had been coming by all day - it was the 3rd anniversary of her father's death, and the entire town suddenly wanted to show their pity, however none of them had made her mother cry yet. At least not that she had seen, anyway.

"No one." Melissa forced a smile and brushed it off, wiping her eyes and turning to enter the kitchen.

"Mom?" The girl frowned after her, glancing out of the window by the door to see a guy in a leather jacket with a snake inked across the back hopping onto a motorcycle and accelerating down the street.

"Aria, honey, it doesn't matter." Her mother reassured her as she busied herself with finding a vase for the flowers.

"Mom, are you...Are you dating one of those biker guys?" She questioned.

Melissa laughed, turning to shake her head and raise her eyebrows at her daughter. "No, of course not, honey. Nothing like that. They just wanted to drop these flowers by, they do every year."

"Why?" Aria frowned in confusion - her mother, just like the rest of the Northside of Riverdale, didn't associate with the Southside, at least not to Aria's knowledge. "Did they know Dad?"

"Yes, they uh- They did." The woman nodded, her movements slowing at the mention of her late husband.

"How?"

"Aria, now is not the time for these questions."

"When is, then, mom? It's been 3 years, and you still won't tell me anything about my own father! Today is the only day of the year you even let me mention him, and that's only because the whole town does!" Aria cried, throwing her hands up in frustration. "I don't even know how he died."

"There was a lot he didn't tell you, Aria." Melissa stated lowly, looking into her daughter's face with an unfaltering gaze. "And I can't tell you one thing without telling you...Everything."

"So tell me everything, mom!" She was almost yelling now, tears of anger and pent-up feelings welling in her eyes. "I deserve to know everything. Or was being his own child not enough?"

"Aria..." Her mother sighed and shook her head, looking to the ground, knowing she couldn't say anything. "Can we put this on hold?"

"On hold until when?"

"Until I'm ready to say it, and you're ready to hear it." At her mother's calm words, Aria groaned in frustration and slammed her palm down on the kitchen counter next to her.

"That's what you've said for 3 goddamn years, mom!"

"Language-"

"You're really telling me about minding my manners right now?" The girl scoffed, laughing bitterly and stepping towards her mother, a tear rolling down her cheek. "My father is dead, mom. Dead! And the one living parent I have won't even tell me anything about him."

"It's more complicated than that." She shook her head and sighed.

"Don't you get it? I don't care how complicated it is. I don't care if I find out my dad was someone completely different to who he said he was - I. deserve. to know." She slowed her speech down and took another step towards the woman, staring her dead in the eye and waiting for a response. Receiving nothing but a slight shake of the head from her mother, she scoffed once again before turning on her heel and slamming her way out of the kitchen, tears streaming down her face.

Slamming and locking her bedroom door behind her, she pulled her phone out of her pocket, tears blurring her vision as she searched through her contacts for the one name that might give her a chance in finding out even the smallest detail about her father.

"Hello?" He picked up on the first ring.

"Jughead, it's me. I need- I need you to do something for me."
