Chapter 15

Lucy
February 2018

I smile at Mikey as I walk into the gym at 5 in the morning. "You got me here. Bright and early. This workout better be worth it."

"It will be and it'll have you pumped for the premiere," Mikey says as he play boxes against me. "And the album release party tomorrow night."

"Yeah yeah yeah. Let me warm up. Then we'll see if I can beat yo ass up again." I tease him, thinking about when I knocked his ass out the last time we got in the ring together.

He rolls his eyes. "We'll see. I've already started training for Creed II. I'm better now."

I just smile as I walk into the changing room. We don't actually get into the ring out of caution for my pregnancy, but we do a lot of boxing warm ups and practices.

"If I keep this up, I could be in Creed III." I smirk as we walk out of the gym an hour and a half later.

"Oh yeah. And for whatever reason, I'll have to fight a girl," He rolls his eyes again. "But I wouldn't mind for you to be in a Creed sequel. It'll be something different for you to do. Who knows? You might end up playing Creed's great-great-granddaughter or something."

"Wait. Are you telling me that Adonis and Bianca have a kid?" I smile widely and Mikey's face drops as he realizes that he gave away some information. "That's dope af. With Bianca being light skinned, I could even play Adonis' daughter in a sequel. She's older and wants to box. Come on, Mikey. How dope would that be?"

"Super dope if you don't talk about it to no one." Mikey says as we get into his Jeep.

"Now you know I wouldn't tell a soul," I roll my eyes at his foolishness. "I didn't sing my mom's and aunt's song to you for no reason."

He gives a little grin as he thinks about back when we first got together and neither of us would open up much. So I sang Diary to him and we sat for hours talking.

"I bet Luke wouldn't be happy if he knew what that song meant with it being on the last album." Mikey says.

I shrug. "He knows. I don't hide anything from him— I mean, besides the last few months," Mikey nods. "He doesn't hide anything from me. We've aired out our dirty laundry to each other."

"That's good," Mikey pauses. "Luce, you know I still love you, right?"

"Yes, and I also know that you are happy for me and will continue to support me like any good friend would." I say as we stop outside of iHOP.

"Yes. Which is why I continue to stay in contact with you," he looks at me with a smile. "Seeing you happy makes me happy. One day, I'll find the girl that gets you out of my mind. And when I do, we're gonna have a a double date, okay?"

"How could I say no, future in-law?" I smirk and get out of the car.

"My son will not be be MCJ. It won't happen." Mikey argues as we get something to eat.

"Ma, I scare." Lola says to me as she, Luke, and I ride in the limo to the Black Panther premiere. We're dressed in African-inspired outfits that (of course) match. This will be Lola's first real public appearance.

"There's no reason to be scared, Bunny," I kiss her forehead. "We're just going to see a movie with Uncle Mike and Uncle Chad."

Luke pulls her into his lap. "Baby girl, there's going to be a lot of cameras and people screaming but if you grab Daddy's hand," he gives her hand a tight squeeze. "I'll protect you. Okay?"
